CHARLIE ROSS SHORT
Charlie Ross Short moved from Ellis County, Texas to
Falls County, Texas in 1934; and in 1937, he brought his widowed mother, Mrs. N.
L. Short, and five of her eight children to join him in Falls County. The mother
died in 1958 in Reagan, Texas.
In 1938, Charlie married Bernice Fuller of Navarro
County, Texas, and they had two sons:
Norman Ross Short, and Joe Clint Short who married Sally Scroggins ‑ a daughter
of J. V. Scroggins.
Charlie and Bernice Short reside in Reagan, Texas. His siblings who came to
Falls County were:
Geraldine Short who married Aldredge Woodland, had three children: Julia Kay
Woodland, Bonnie Sue Woodland, and Fred Glover Woodland, and resides in Groves,
Texas.
Wendel M. Short was killed in the Invasion of
Normandy in 1944 while in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Annette Short married Joseph ("Joe") Spadora, and had
one son, Joseph Spadora, Jr. Annette graduated from Reagan High School, and
Joseph Spadora was a native of New York. They reside in Marlin, Texas.
Joseph Paul Short attended Reagan and Marlin schools,
and left Falls County in 1944, He lived and worked in the Port Arthur, Texas
area until his death in 1977. He married first to Lillie Densman of Marlin,
Texas and had two children: Michael Short and Susan Short.
O. M. (called "Mike") Short ‑ married Frances Swinnea
of Reagan, Texas, and had two children: Deborah Lynn Short who married Robert
Thigpen, Jr. ‑ a son of Robert and Jane Ann (Walston) Thigpen of Falls County,
Texas; and Timothy Clay Short. Mike and Frances live on their farm north of
Marlin, toward the Perry Community in Falls County, Texas.
