SHAW, THAD GRAVES
Thad Graves Shaw, b July 27, 1913 in
Marlin, Falls County, Texas -- was a son of Dr. Frank Hawthorn and Constance
(Harlan) Shaw -- natives of Falls County, Texas. On August 18, 1936 in Dallas,
Texas, Thad was married to Velma Francis, b November 22, 1913 in Wagoner,
Oklahoma -- a daughter of Victor H. and Beatrice (Parliman) Francis.
During world War II, Thad served as a Captain with the first Infantry Division,
European Theater of Operations, from 1942 to 1945. During the Korean War, he
served from 1950 to 1952 with the First Cavalry Division.
Thad and Velma were parents of one daughter:
Mary Evelyn Shaw, b October 1, 1946, who married April 14, 1968 to Larry W.
Neumann, and had Sara Neumann, b July 11, 1972.
Thad and Velma Shaw are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Marlin,
Texas. Thad served as Marlin City Secretary and Treasurer from 1956 to 1974.
Thad and Velma continue to reside in Marlin.
