ENOCH WESLEY SHAUNFIELD
Enoch Wesley Shaunfield, b June 19, 1870 in Florida, d 1944 in Reagan, Falls County, Texas and buried there in Waite Cemetery - was one of twin sons born to Charles and Leah Frances (Carter) Shaunfield, natives of France and Alabama, respectively. "Wesley" moved to Falls County, Texas with his parents about 1880, when they settled in the Reagan Community.
Wesley was married ca 1897 to Miss James Clairmond Duke, (called "Tem"), b February 11, 1880 at Buena Vista, Alabama, d 1948 in Reagan, Falls County, Texas. Wesley was a grocer by trade, as was his twin brother, George Wallace Shaunfield, and he learned carpentry from his father.
After the Methodist Church at Reagan had been completed, it was Wesley who designed and built the Church Steeple. The family worshipped in both Methodist and Baptist churches all their married lives.
Enoch Wesley and "Tem" (Duke) Shaunfield were the parents of three children:
Walter Lynn Shaunfield, b March 2, 1899 at Reagan, d June 26, 1939 and buried in Waite Cemetery married Alma Wagnon, b 1897, d 1971 - reared in Buckner's Orphans Home. Alma was a nurse. They had Tim Wagnon Shaunfield, Enoch Wesley Shaunfield, Jr., and Joe Dudley Shaunfield, who lived at Port Arthur and in Reagan.
Mary Wesley Shaunfield, b February 29, 1908 married Seth Brantner and now reside in Reagan, Texas. (1986).
Jack Shaunfield, b October 3, 1910 at Reagan, Falls County, Texas - married Ila Belle Smith, b December 24, 1913 - a daughter of John Harvey and Ila Grace (Petteway) Smith of the Hammond Community near Bremond, Robertson County, Texas, who lived in Bremond from 1920 to 1972. Jack served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He has worked as a merchant in Reagan, Marlin, and Bremond, and in various jobs. Presently, Jack and Ila Belle have a peach orchard at Reagan, where they reside. They had one son, Jackie Shaunfield, b July 4, 1947, who married Earline Erwin, b June 3, 1948 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - a daughter of Earl and Connie (Sypnieski) Erwin of Marlin. Jackie and Earline live in Reagan with their two children: Clinton Wade Shaunfield, b 1976; and Eric Wesley Shaunfield, b 1979.
