SHAUNFIELD, CHARLES
Charles Shaunfield, b August 10, 1828 in France, d January 12, 1894 at Reagan, Falls County, Texas and buried in Covington Cemetery near Reagan - was a son of a native of Hamburg, Germany, and his wife, a native of France. He married first ca 1857 to a Miss McCall, and had a daughter, Sarah Josephine Shaunfield, b 1858.
On February 12, 1860, Charles Shaunfield was married second in Claiborne County, Alabama, to Leah Frances Carter, b September 22, 1840 in Alabama, d May 18, 1924 and buried in Covington Cemetery near Reagan - a daughter of W. E. Carter, of Alabama. The couple immigrated to Falls County, Texas about 1880, settling near Reagan.
Charles Shaunfield was a carpenter by trade, and a lay Methodist minister. He was one of the men who participated in the building of both, the Methodist and Baptist Churches in Reagan, where he and Leah participated actively in the Methodist Church.
They were the parents of eight children:
Charles William Shaunfield, b November 12, 1860, d January 28, 1885 at Reagan and buried in Covington Cemetery - was never married.
Cora Lavenia Shaunfield, b March 15, 1862, d January 28, 1862.
Ada Keziah Shaunfield, b September 25, 1863, d September 11, 1929. and buried in Covington Cemetery - married a Mr. Tanner.
Edward Montgomery Shaunfield, b September 22, 1865, d June 30, 1866.
John Keith Shaunfield, b April 25, 1867, d May 24, 1938 at Reagan - married Sarah E. Davis (called "Sallie"), b September 20, 1879, d December 31, 1966 and buried in Waite Cemetery at Reagan.
George Wallace Shaunfield - a twin, b June 19, 1870, d December 14, 1918 in the flu epidemic - married Margaret Hetherington.
Enoch Wesley Shaunfield - a twin, b June 19, 1870, d .1944 and buried in Waite Cemetery at Reagan - married Miss James Clairmond Duke, (called "Tem"), b February 11, 1880 in Alabama, d 1948 and buried in Waite Cemetery. They had three children.
Daisy Mae Shaunfield, b May 29, 1876, d August 5, 1952 and buried in Covington Cemetery near Reagan - married James W. Kirkpatrick, b August 26, 1852 in Alabama, d October 10, 1916 and buried in Covington Cemetery.
Inez Adelle Shaunfield, born and died in 1881.
The Shaunfield family still has descendants who reside at Reagan, Falls County, Texas.
