WILLIAM QUANDT
William Quandt, b April 13, 1875 in Fayette County, Texas, d March 29,
1958 and buried in St Paul's Cemetery at the St. Paul Church in Falls County,
Texas - was a son of Christian and Marie (Priebe) Quandt, who had settled in
Fayette Count) prior to the mid-1870's from Europe - probably Ger. many.
On December 20, 1900 in Washington County Texas, William Quandt married
Marie Lemke, b January 17, 1879 in Germany, d April 17, 1922 and buried in the
St. Paul Cemetery in Falls County, Texas - a daughter of Henry and Magdalena
(Karsten) Lemke.
William and Marie purchased land in Falls County, Texas in 1914, and
moved from Fayette County - settling in the St. Paul Community, Falls County,
where he was a farmer and a carpenter. At the age of fifty-five years, William
gave his deceased wife's share of the land to his children, moved to Riesel,
Texas, and made private loans to individuals. The children purchased the other
half of his land, and it continues to belong to his descendants.
William and Marie (Lemke) Quandt were the parents of three children - all
born in Fayette County, Texas:
Lillie Quandt, b December 24,1901, d July 1, 1954 and buried in St. Paul
Cemetery - married May 17, 1921 to Walter A. Glockzin, b January 16,1899, and
had five children.
Hulda Quandt, b April 23, 1903, d January 23, 1939 and buried in St. Paul
Cemetery - married February 20, 1924 to Rudolf Adolf Abel, b May 18, 1899, and
had four children.
Delmon Quandt, b September 21, 1908, d May 24, 1982 and buried in
Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin- married February 1, 1938 to Irene Bertha Sophie
Jander, b March 16, 1919, and had two daughters.
William Quandt died in an Austin, Texas hospital, and was returned to
Falls County for burial by his wife.
