ISHAM K. PRINGLE

     Isham K. Pringle, b December 22, 1808 in Meridian, Lauderdale County, Mississippi, d September 2, 1871 in Falls County, Texas and buried in the Mustang Prairie Cemetery - was the second of eight children of Abraham Pringle, b in South Carolina, and his wife, Anna (Bromfield) Pringle, of North Carolina. On March 16, 1831, Isham was married in Meridian, Mississippi to Elizabeth Parker Kennida (sic Kennedy), b May 15, 1815 in Pensacola, Florida, d June 5, 1888 and buried at Thornton, Limestone County, Texas.

     The Pringles were wealthy plantation owners in Mississippi prior to the Civil War in which Isham fought as a Captain. He and Elizabeth moved with their family in 1866 to the Alto Springs Community of Falls County. Although Isham K. died only five years after settling in Falls County, he and Elizabeth have had descendants here for 120 years. They had eight children:

     Abraham Kennida Pringle, b February 2, 1832, buried at Thornton, Texas - married in Meridian, Mississippi to S. Adeline Meredith and had ten children. They lived in Limestone County, Texas.

     Sarah Broomfield Pringle, b November 9, 1835 in Mississippi, d in May 1870 from injuries received when her horse was "spooked" crossing a bridge at Mustang Prairie. In Lauderdale County, Mississippi on October 24, 1853, Sarah had married William Calloway ("Cal") Jones, b ca 1830 in Mississippi and a Civil War veteran - a son of John R. and Hannah (Rhiner) Jones of Mississippi. "Cal" and Sarah came to Anderson County, Texas before moving to Falls County. Their five children were:

Alice Jones, b 1854 in Mississippi, died after the census was taken on March 3, 1871 in Falls County; Paralee, b ca 1856 in Texas, died young; Mary

Leona Jones, b February 13, 1858 in Anderson County, Texas, d November 26,1939 in Newton County, Texas - married February 8, 1877 in Limestone County,

Texas to Joseph Larkin Rogers, b October 23, 1854 in Autauga County, Alabama, d May 2,1934 in Newton County, Texas - a son of Joseph Byrd and Tabitha (Massengale) Rogers; Sarah May ("Sallie") Jones, b May 18, 1865, d June 12, 1892 and buried in Thornton, Texas - married James W. Boatner, born in Thornton; and Maud Lucinda Jones, b April 1, 1867 in Texas, d August 12, 1904 - married Samuel Morrow.

     Mary Ann Lucinda Pringle, b March 22, 1840 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi - married October 26, 1870 to her sister, Sarah's, widower, William Calloway Jones.

     Isham Johnson Pringle, b November 16,1844 in Mississippi, d October 25, 1911 in Marlin, Texas and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - married first on December 20, 1864 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi to Frances E. Norbuyton, and had one son, Charles Edwin Pringle, b 1866, d 1933 - married Artie Amelia (maiden name unknown), b 1861, d 1927; married second in September 1872 to Sarah Ann Ross, b September 25, 1845, d February 7, 1941 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin. Isham J. and Sarah Ann (Ross) Pringle had five children: Frances E. ("Fannie") Pringle, b September 6, 1875, d September 23, 1972 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - never married; Jeffie Pringle, b December 1878, d April 14, 1968, was a school teacher - married Louis J. Wardlaw, and had no issue; Una Ross Pringle, b January 1, 1881, d December 13, 1983 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - married Nathaniel Jones Llewellyn, b April 30, 1863, d July 1, 1936 and had two children; Isham Parker Pringle, b April 28, 1885, d July 4, 1965 -married Bertha Bletsch; and Katie B. Pringle, b November 8, 1886, d February 3, 1985 - married Thomas H. Mathieson, who was a Christian Church minister, and moved to New Zealand for some years before returning to the United States where he pastored a number of churches. Isham Johnson Pringle was a Christian Church minister, and established schools and churches at Alto Springs, Thornton, and Marlin, Texas.

     George Rutledge Pringle, b January 24, 1846 in Mississippi, d April 25, 1875 in Falls County, Texas - married Emma Catherine Rogers, b October 14, 1852 in Autauga County, Alabama, d January 6, 1930 and buried in Oklahoma Cemetery in Limestone County, Texas - a daughter of Joseph Byrd and Tabitha (Massengale) Rogers, and had George Albert Pringle, b July 7, 1873 - married July 6, 1902 to Mary Alice Bratton and had Fountain, Mamie Claire, and George Albert Pringle, Jr.; and Ella Minerva Pringle, b May 31,1875, d August 30, 1899 - married Will Fain.

     William Elijah Pringle, b April 24, 1849 in Mississippi, d February 16, 1926 - married December 21, 1876 in Limestone County, Texas to Frances Hill Phillips, b March 24, 1855 in Waco, Texas, d August 30, 1939 and both buried at Thornton, Texas, and had James Kennida, Edna Adelia, Ella Virginia, Laura Frances, William Elijah, Jr., Robert Vernon, Lillian Lenora, Tinia, Daniel Tipton, and Velma Ruth Pringle.

     Jefferson Davis Pringle, b July 23, 1852 in Mississippi, d December 12, 1855.

     John Anthony Quitman Pringle, b June 29, 1855 in Mississippi, d September 28, 1934 and buried in Fort Worth, Texas - married Georgia Tipton Davis, b Au- gust 24, 1863 in Thornton, Texas, d February 4, 1935 and buried in Fort Worth. They had twelve children: Jessie Anthony, Eula Mae, Beulah Clyde, Oscar Lee, Elmer Hill, Ely Davis, Otha Virgil, A. Wilford, George Tipton, Isham Johnson, Alton E., and Rodrick Fields Pringle.
