FRANCIS MARION POWERS, JR.
Francis Marion Powers, Jr. (called "Frank"), b July 16, 1865 in Falls
County, Texas, d July 9, 1931 and buried in Hope Cemetery - was a son of Francis
Marion and Elizabeth (Curry) Powers.
In 1884 in Falls County, Frank was married to EI- mina Watters, b
November 4, 1867, d August 19, 1935 - a daughter of John and Martha (Seay)
Watters. After their marriage, Frank and Elmina moved to Haskell for a few
years, returning to the Otto area of Falls County, where they continued to live
and farm. They were the parents of twelve children, with nine surviving to
adulthood:
Travis A. Powers, b November 23, 1885, d May 8, 1952 and buried in Hope
Cemetery in Falls County, Texas - married Emma Rhodes, b September 8, 1884, d
November 1, 1968 and buried in Hope Cemetery - a daughter of Joseph E. Rhodes, b
November 25, 1849, d March 17, 1932, and his wife, Mary (Binnicker) Rhodes, b
August 19, 1855, d January 28, 1952, and both also buried in Hope Cemetery.
John Francis Powers, b July 23, 1888, d May 16, 1959 and buried in Hope
Cemetery - was in the U.S. Army during World War I, serving in the Texas Wagoner
Supply Troop, Third Cavalry.
Annie Powers, b October 22,1891, d 1980 married Robert W. Spencer, b
March 8, 1880, d January 24, 1953 and buried in Hope Cemetery.
James S. Powers, b July 26, 1893, d August 22, 1949 and buried in Hope
Cemetery - served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private, 12th
Battalion Replacement Training Center.
Della Mae Powers, b 1895, d 1955 and buried in Hope Cemetery - married C.
H. Gaeke, b 1893.
William Watters Powers, b ca 1897 - lived in Falls County. Buried in
Marlin, Texas.
Aline Powers - buried in Hope Cemetery.
Bernice Powers, b July 27,1905, No further information.
Infant Twin Sons Powers, born and died July 4, 1907, and buried in Hope
Cemetery.
Infant Son Powers, b November 4, 1908, d April 13,1909 and buried in Hope
Cemetery.
Woodrow Powers, b April 30, 1912 - married February 4, 1933 in Falls
County Texas to Johnnie Lou Pitts, b April 30, 1915 - a daughter of John Clinton
and Lou Ella (Douglas) Pitts, of Limestone County, Texas. Woodrow has been a
Deputy Sheriff in Falls County, Texas for many years; and Johnnie Lou is a
retired teacher. They had no children.
