FRANKLIN G. POOL
Franklin G. Pool, b 1832 at San Felipe, Texas- Mexico, d after the 1880
Census was taken - the second son of Jonathan Cochran and Celia Emeline
(Pierson) Pool, who were among the earliest settlers in Texas, Coahuila, Mexico.
Franklin moved from Houston County to Falls County, Texas with his father,
stepmother, and three brothers, William S. Pool, Jonathan Burleson Pool, and
Travis Richard Pool, in 1852, He received his share of the Pierson Estate when
his mother's estate was settled; and in 1856, he was married to Emily Birke, b
1839 in Illinois, d 1861 in Falls County, Texas - a daughter of Rial and Sarah
(Buckles) Birke, of the Durango Community of Falls County. When Emily died,
their three children lived with their grandfather, and Franklin enlisted in the
Confederate States Army to fight in the Civil War.
Returning to Falls County after his military service with the
Confederacy, Franklin G. Pool was married second on January 17, 1866 to Hellen
L. Montgomery, b 1845 in Canada, d ca 1875 in Falls County, Texas - a daughter
of John and Mariah Montgomery, of Canada and England, respectively.
Franklin was a stockman and horseman, and it was the latter occupation
that led to the untimely deaths of two of his sons. He and Emily had three
children:
Victoria Emeline Pool, b 1857, d January 31, 1913 and buried in Clover
Hill Cemetery at Lott, Falls County, Texas - married August 22, 1877 to Charles
T. Allen.
Warren Pierson Pool, b 1859, d ca 1880.
William H. Pool, b 1861, d ca 1882.
Franklin G. Pool and his second wife, Hellen L. (Montgomery) Pool, were
the parents of four children:
Isabella Pool, b December 1866, died in Brownwood, Texas - married
Hartwell J. Stillwell.
John Pool, b 1868, died young.
Mariah Ludicia Pool, b January 27, 1870, d June 17,1941 in Fort Worth,
Tarrant County, Texas and buried in Greenwood Cemetery there - married November
24, 1898 to Perry Decatur Henry, Sr., a merchant at Lott, Texas.
Travis Hogue Pool, b 1873, died in Cotulla, Texas - married November
26,1897 to Florence (Keechie) Glass - a daughter of Elijah R. P. and Matilda
(Roberts) Glass. Travis was reared
by his uncle Travis Richard and aunt Anna (Montgomery) Pool.
It is not known when Franklin G. Pool died; but he was living alone in
Falls County, Texas in 1880.
