EMIL AUGUST POLLEY

 

 

     Emil August Polley, b August 1, 1859 in Germany, d April 4, 1941 at Satin, Falls County, Texas and buried in Cottonwood Cemetery - was married in January 1889 in Falls County to Albertine Bertha Guderian, b September 23, 1868 in Germany, d October 1, 1905 at Satin, and buried in the Guderian Family Cemetery near Cottonwood - a daughter of Ludwig and Annie (Dresner) Guderian.

     Emil August came from Germany as a young man In 1882 - traveling with his future father-in-law and his sister, Charlotte Polley, and settled in the Satinirea, where he farmed.

     "August" and Bertha Polley had six children:

     H. Walter Polley, b February 16, 1890 in Falls County, Texas, d October 14, 1983 at Cottonwood - married to Esther Guderian, b March 18, 1896 in Falls County, d August 16, 1961 at Satin and buried in Cottonwood Cemetery - a daughter of Alexander D. and Charlotte (Polley) Guderian. The only child of H. Walter and Esther Polley, William Earl Polley, b December 21, 1931 in Falls County, Texas, is unmarried. Walter and Esther were members of the Cottonwood Baptist Church, and farmers by occupation.

     Emil Reinhold Polley, b April 30, 1892, d August 4,1957 - married Annie Schrader.

Alice Polley, b November 2, 1894, d March 14, 1982 - was not married.

     Nettie Polley, b October 4,1897, d December 16, 1968 - married November 2, 1924 to Herman A. Burow and moved to the state of Oregon.

     Olga Alfreda Polley, b April 18, 1902, d October 23, 1979 in Waco, Texas - married June 5, 1923 to Edwin William Gummelt of Cottonwood, and moved to Waco, Texas.

     Alfred W. Polley, b December 6, 1904, d April 22, 1984 - married at Satin, Texas on December 21, 1925 to Winnie Prestidge, b December 21, 1908 at Satin - a daughter of William Buck and Pearl Beatrice (Price) Prestidge. Alfred was a carpenter and a farmer at Satin, and they were members of the Golinda Baptist Church. Their daughter, Betty Joyce Polley, b May 29, 1931 at Satin, married May 31, 1952 to Charles Wayne Crockett, and moved to Chicago, Illinois.
