ABSALOM PERRY
Absalom Perry, b February 27, 1807 in Tennessee, d February 18, 1890 and
buried in Mustang Prairie, Falls County, Texas - whose father was from North
Carolina and his mother was a native of Virginia. Absalom Perry was married
first to Matilda (maiden name unknown). They spent many years in Alabama, where
they had seven known children: Mary, John, Caroline, Absalom, Jr.; William,
Thomas, and Aca Perry.
In the mid-1850's, Absalom and Matilda, with their family, emigrated to
Trinity County, Texas - settling in the Sumpter and Pennington areas. It was
there that Matilda died in the early 1860's. In 1863, Absalom Perry was married
second to Adeline (maiden name unknown), b February 15, 1841 in Mississippi, d
February 3, 1915 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery, Falls County, Texas.
Absalom and Adeline, with two of their four children, and some of his
older children, moved to Falls County - settling in the Mustang Prairie area in
1870. Absalom was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
The children of Absalom and Adeline Perry were:
Matilda A. Perry, b February 2, 1865 in Trinity County, Texas, d April
15, 1894 - married December 5, 1880 in Limestone County, Texas to A. J. Adams,
who died ca 1885. They had Jake A. Adams, b November 25, 1881 in Falls County,
Texas, d July 1, 1947 in Upshur County, Texas, who married in 1902 in Limestone
County to Fannie Bishop, and had three children: Lou Ada Adams, b November 5,
1883 in Mustang Prairie, d March 2, 1950 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and
buried in Calvary Cemetery, who married in 1898 to Thomas Milton Mills of
Freestone County, Texas, and had eleven children. After the death of A. J.
Adams, Matilda A. (Perry) Adams was married second in August 1889 to William T.
Lewis, of Mustang Prairie, and had one son: T. Ezell Lewis, b September 10,
1890, d August 28, 1956 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery, who married in
1912 in Falls County to Fannie Jackson, and had six children. An infant daughter
born to William T. and Matilda (Perry) Lewis died April 15, 1894, and was buried
in Mustang Prairie Cemetery.
James H. Perry, b 1870, d 1873, and was buried in Mustang Prairie
Cemetery, Falls County, Texas.
Ella M. Perry, b 1875, d 1901 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery -
married December 19, 1893 in Robertson County, Texas to Ike W. Whittington. They
had Roy Whittington, b December 1894; and Leslie Whittington, b September 2,
1896, d June 7, 1899 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery.
Willis M. Perry, b 1878, d 1886, and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery,
Falls County, Texas.
