JAMES B. NORWOOD
James B. Norwood, b January 12, 1867 in Falls County, Texas, d September
30, 1933 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas -
was a son of John W. and Adaline (Moore) Norwood. John W. Norwood had come to
Falls County from Alabama about 1851 with his parents, Anson and Julianne
Norwood, where John W. subsequently married and reared his family on the farm
north of Marlin.
About 1897, James B. Norwood married Lina Bell Neal, b May 5,1880, d
January 13, 1958 in Marlin, and buried in Calvary Cemetery. James and Lina were
parents of six children:
James William Norwood, date of birth not known, was an electrician in
Corpus Christi, Texas, married, and had one son, James ("Jimmy") Norwood.
Daisy Norwood, date of birth not known - married John Towers, had eight
daughters and one son; and the family all moved away from Falls County.
Ora Lee Norwood, date of birth not known - married Elisha Embry Winfrey,
and their daughter, Lucy Winfrey, married Wilbur Gerald Fannin.
Charlie Norwood, b August 31, 1906, d December 17, 1978 and buried in
Stranger Cemetery at Stranger,
Falls County, Texas

married Gertrude Erskine, b September 15,
1903, alive in 1986 - a daughter of James Franklin and Florence Midora (Cox)
Erskine of Stranger. They had one son, Charles Eugene Norwood, b February 22,
1934, who married Virginia Hamilton and has three children: Diane, b October 18,
1958; Cathy, b August 9,1960; and Steven Charles, b March 23, 1964. Charles
Eugene Norwood is a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Charlie Norwood was a
football player in Marlin High School, and served in World War II. He was a bus
driver, and later the owner of the B-Line Bus Company. After the war, he
operated a Gulf Service Station in Waco, Texas. His widow, Gertrude (Erskine)
Norwood, resides in Marlin, Texas, in the they purchased when Charlie
retired. Gertrude is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marlin, Texas.
Mildred Norwood, b February 19, 1908, d March 29,1911, and buried in
Calvary Cemetery.
Roy Lynn Norwood, date of birth not known, worked for the telephone
company in Houston, Texas, where he died. He married, and had a son, Robert
Norwood.
