HERBERT NEWMAN
Herbert Newman, b ca 1920 - was a son of Otto and Olga (Hahn) Newman,
whose ancestors immigrated to America from Germany. His paternal grandparents
were Samuel and Augusta (Grabachek) Newman, and his maternal grandparents were
Emil and Augusta Hahn.
Herbert was an athlete in high school, winning many basketball and
baseball trophies, and was named Number One pitcher in the State.
Herbert was married to Helen Marstaller - a daughter of Otto and Annie
(Nehring) Marstaller, and granddaughter of the artist, Edward Marstaller and his
wife, Louise S. Marstaller, and of Gus and Annie (Stephen) Nehring.
Herbert and Helen were farmers, as were most of their ancestors. His
siblings were: Freda Newman, Adolf Newman, Helen Newman, and Hattie Newman.
Helen's siblings were: Mable Marstaller, Tilda Marstaller, and Lizzie
Marstaller.
Herbert and Helen were the parents of three children:
Janice Newman, b ca 1944-graduated from Marlin High School. She
illustrated a published book of poetry while a senior at M. H. S., entitled. "IN
OUR HEARTS" - authored by Marian Garrett Gibbs and Joydelle Garrett Wolfram.
Janice Married Ernest Kluck, and they made their in Bryan, Texas. They had
issue.
Donald Newman, b ca 1953 - was a graduate of Marlin High School.
Gordon Newman, b ca 1955 - was a graduate of Marlin High School.
