JOHN NEUMANN

 

 

     John Neumann, b January 14, 1823 in Prussia, d 1885 in Falls County, Texas of Blood Poisoning - came to Texas in 1856 with his first wife, Caroline (Focht) Neumann, who died that same year, and with their two children - settling in Austin County. John married second to Louise Charlotte (Sander) Pinkert, b 1817 in Prussia - widow of Frederick W. Pinkert, by whom she had three daughters, who served in the Confederate States Army, was wounded, an died in a hospital in Arkansas - and daughter of August Sander, b March 20, 1807, and his wife, Marie (Abel) Sander, b December 30, 1806, who arrived in Texas in 1850 on the ship, Basserman, from Perleberg, Prussia, and settled on the farm they purchased near Bellville, Texas.

     After their marriage, John and Louise bought land at Patterson, Texas, where they made their until 1883, when John purchased farm land in Falls County, Texas one mile North of Perry - adjacent to the Houston and Central Texas Railroad. He built a small house, and moved his family there. Late in 1883, John Neumann purchased 170 1/2 acres of land two miles east of Perry; and in 1885 while in the process of building a larger there, he stepped on a nail, and subsequently died of Blood Poisoning.

     John and Louise Charlotte (Sander) Neumann J were the parents of the following children:

     August Neumann, anna Neuamnn, Albert Neumann, Reihard Andrew Neumann, b September19, 1873 and; a twin sister who died at birth; and  Mathilda Neumann.
