JAMES RUSSELL NEAL
James Russell Neal, b January 24, 1915 at Burlington, Falls County, Texas
- was a son of James l1ilam and Nora Mae (Manning) Neal of Chickasaw County,
Mississippi. James Russell Neal was baptized 11 the Live Oak Baptist Church in
1926.
On October 24, 1932 at Lott, Falls County, Texas, James Russell Neal
married Beatrice McKelroy, b July 1, 1915 at Westphalia, Falls County, Texas on
the Henry Buckholts farm, and baptized in the Little Deer Creek Baptist Church
in July 1923 - the seventh of ten children of Willie Jonce McKelroy, b 1881 in
Alabama, and his wife, Lillie Belle (Hunter) McKelroy of Normangee, Texas.
James was a farmer whose education was received at the Hamilton,
Sneed-Kasner, and Live Oak Schools in Falls County, Beatrice attended school at
Westhalia for two years before her parents moved to Busby, where she attended
school through the tenth grade, and then went to Lott High School.
James Russell and Beatrice (McKelroy) Neal were the parents of five
children, but only two survived:
Norma Blanche Neal, b March 22, 1934 in Falls County - married Clarence
Emil Wolf.
James Donald Neal, b August 13, 1939 in Rosebud, d August 17, 1939.
Lou Ann Neal, b January 12, 1941, d January 15, 1941.
Marvin Kay Neal, b August 11, 1943 in Rosebud, d August 15, 1945.
Nancy Bea Neal, b September 6,1947 in Rosebud, attended Lott School, and
then married Donald Dean Powell and of the New Salem Community east of Travis.
They moved to McLennan County, and reside in Robinson. Their two sons are Ricky
Dean Powell and Kevin Donald Powell.
