WILLIAM HENRY MITCHELL II

William Henry Mitchell II, b June 26, 1925 in Falls County, Texas ‑ was a son of Bryan Earl and Cleone (Clark) Mitchell. William served in the U.S. Navy during World War II ‑ being in the Atlantic and Caribbean (including Cuba) for a time. William grew up as a farm laborer on his father's farm, and learned early what was required to be a success in his chosen profession.

On December 21, 1951 in Falls County, Texas, he married Gladys Killgore ‑ a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Killgore of Chilton, Texas, and they have one daughter:

Lisa Ann Mitchell, b December 15, 1967, who graduated from Robinson High School in McLennan County, Texas in 1986. She is devoted to horseback riding, and is considered to be quite a cow‑girl. She has won ribbons in horse shows since a small child, and is quite proficient in riding both Western and English style.

William owns a large number of acres of farming and ranching land in Falls County ‑ some of which belonged to his father, and about 400 acres which have been in the family since February 20, 1835 when his great, great grandfather, Dr. Isaiah Harlan, received a league of land from Mexico and the State of Coahuila.

Gladys (Killgore) Mitchell is in the real estate business in Marlin with her sister, Mrs. Freddie Walker.
