RAY
MITCHELL
Ray Mitchell, b November 24, 1927 in Falls County,
Texas ‑ was one of twins born on Thanksgiving Day to Bryan Earl and Cleone
(Clark) Mitchell. As a young boy, he worked for his father as a farm laborer
after school and summers, and when he graduated from High School, he entered
full‑time farming and ranching activities with his father. He subsequently
served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in the United States in California and
Washington.
Prior to entering the U.S. Army, Ray had married on
December 26, 1953 to Edna Jean Lloyd of Kosse, Limestone County, Texas ‑ a
daughter of Newton Gilfred Lloyd, b February 3, 1901, d July 1972, and his wife,
Altha Lorene (Williams) Lloyd, b February 24, 1901, d January 4, 1984, and both
buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery in east Falls County, Texas.
Upon completing his military service, Ray and Jean
returned to Falls County, where Ray resumed his ranching activities. He is a
director of Marlin National Bank, and has real estate interests elsewhere. They
reside in Marlin, Texas, and have two sons:
Michael Ray Mitchell, b December 6, 1955 in the State
of Washington ‑ who married July 17, 1976 to Antoinette Marie Roppolo ‑ daughter
of James and Sarah Roppolo of Marlin, Texas. Mike now heads the "7‑M Ranch,
Inc.", and leases a large part of his uncle, William Henry Mitchell II's land.
Mike and Antoinette have one son, Michael Ray Mitchell, II, b September 4, 1985
in Temple, Bell County, Texas; and the family resides near Marlin, Texas.
Mark Allen Mitchell, b November 8, 1961, received his
Bachelor's degree from Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas, and is now employed
with Robert Thigpen Livestock Company in Chilton, Texas. He is not married, and
resides in Waco, Texas.
