JOHN SANFORD MILLERMAN

John Sanford Millerman, b February 22, 1814 in Christian Valley, New York, d April 1, 1868 in Blue Ridge, Falls County, Texas - a son of John and Huldah (Abbott) Millerman. John Sanford came to The Republic of Texas, and on August 27, 1840 in Montgomery County, Texas, he was married to Mary Harlan, b January 21, 1820 in Fayette County, Indiana, d May 3, 1902 and buried in Falls County, Texas in Blue Ridge Cemetery - a daughter of Dr. Isaiah and Nancy (Henry) Harlan.
The Millermans remained in Montgomery County until 1856, when they moved to Blue Ridge, Falls County, Texas, and settled on her share of her parents estate - being 738 acres of land which was a part of the Mexican grant to Dr. Isaiah Harlan on February 20, 1835. It was on that land that they lived, and reared their family of eleven children - having lost the first two infants in 1841 and 1843:
Eliza Millerman, b June 9, 1845 in Montgomery County, Texas - married August 9, 1866 to Thomas Lewis Saxon.
Charles Arrister Millerman, b November 15, 1846 - married November 10, 1875 to Dora Wright.
Sarah Millerman (called "Sallie", who later changed the spelling to "Sara"), b April 2, 1848-married first to Benjamin Franklin Cornelison, and second to Levi Waddell Kelly.
Diantha Millerman, b October 16, 1849 -married September 18, 1867 to Albert Brown Thomas.
John Harlan Millerman, b January 26, 1851 married December 25, 1873 to Sarah Higgins.
Nancy Henry Millerman, b April 5, 1853 - married January 18, 1870 to John Wesley Jackson, Jr.
Mary Jane Millerman, b January 31, 1856-married January 31, 1872 to Augustus Pleasant Wright.
Frances Madora Millerman (called "Fannie"), b February 11, 1858 - married February 12, 1875 to William Jones Owen.
Aramantha Millerman, b December 10, 1859 married December 22, 1875 to James William Williams.
Cornelia Millerman, b July 7, 1862, d March 17, 1865.
Arrilla Warner Millerman, b August 31, 1867 married January 22, 1883 to Robert Long Cobb.
In 1878, Mary (Harlan) Millerman gave one and a half acres of land to the Blue Ridge Community, to build a schoolhouse, which was called "Blue Ridge Central Academy." The school was used for many years for church services for the Church of Christ denomination.
The descendants of John Sanford and Mary (Harlan) Millerman are many - some continued to reside in Falls County, and many who moved away.
