Surnames: McCULLOUGH, MAHONEY, IRWIN, DAVIS, FISER, RIDGEWAY, LIVINGSTON, MEARS, DOUGLAS, MARTIN.

    Edward McCullough, b April 15, 1834, in Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virginia), d June 26, 1902, and buried in Mooreville Cemetery, Falls County, Texas -- was a son of John and Mary (Mahoney) McCullough, both natives of Ireland.  Edward worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, moving to Washington County, Missouri in 1856.  In 1857, he was married to Sophia Irwin, who had one daughter, Mary Allie McCullough, b ca 1859.  Sophia (Irwin) McCullough died in Missouri in November 1861.
     Edward McCullough had enlisted in the Missouri State Troops in May 1861, where he participated in the Battles of Lexington and Pea Ridge.  In April 1862, he enlisted in the regular Confederate States Army -- being a prisoner at Fort Lincoln from August 1862 until April 1863.  He spent the remainder of the Civil War on the West side of the river.
    Coming to Texas in 1865 after the Civil War, Mr. McCullough settled at Rock Dam, where he rented land and farmed.  He bought a grist and saw mill on Burr Lake on the Brazos River, operating the mill until his purchase of 300 acres of land at Mooreville, and adding to it until he owned 3400 acres within four miles of Mooreville.  He erected a gin and was in partnership with a Mr. Davis in a general store, which later became McCullough & Son.
    In 1867, Edward McCullough was married second to Eliza A. Fiser, b October 28, 1841, in Weakley County, Tennessee, d February 27, 1914, -- a daughter of Willis A. and Offa (Ridgeway) Fiser.  They had seven children.
    Edward's eldest daughter by Sophia (Irwin) McCullough, Mary Allie McCullough, married L. L. Livingston, of Chilton, Falls County, Texas.
    Edward McCullough Jr., into business with his father.
    Thomas L. McCullough practiced law in Waco, Texas.
    Willis Howell McCullough clerked at the store.
    Benjamin Franklin McCullough (called "Benny"), b February 2, 1874, d September 4, 1878, -- killed in a gin accident.
    Burger F. McCullough, b 1875, d 1962 -- attended Southwestern University -- married Louise (maiden name unknown), b 1885, d 1956.
    Sarah McCullough went to the Female College at Waco.
    Edward McCullough deeded land for the Methodist Church at Mooreville, and he and Eliza were founding members.  They were active in all civic, religious, and educational development in the Mooreville Community.
    Several of Edward's siblings also came to Texas.  His sister, Margaret McCullough, married a Mr. Mears.  Another sister, Mary McCullough, married S. L. Irwin.  A brother, William Thomas McCullough, b May 7, 1839, d June 6, 1905, -- married Sarah L. (maiden name unknown), b March 25, 1843, at Mooreville.  A third sister. Sarah McCullough, married H. M. Douglas.  Brother, Francis McCullough (called" Frank"), b 1844, d 1896 and buried in Calvary Cemetery at Marlin -- married Malinda F. (maiden name unknown), b 1846, d 1932 and also buried in Calvary Cemetery, whose daughter, Mary McCullough, b October 11, 1872, d September 4, 1940 -- married F. Barclay Martin, b May 3, 1863, d 1934, and both buried in Calvary Cemetery by her parents.  Brother, John McCullough, and sister, Susan McCullough, were both deceased by 1893.
