BYRON VERN LITTLE
Byron Vern Little, b August 21,1922 in Limestone County, Texas, d
September 9,1982 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County,
Texas, was the second child of Francis Olly and Gertrude (Bur- roughs) Little.
On October 21, 1942 in Teague, Free- stone County, Texas, Byron married to
Tommye Clydine Bond, b October 27 1925 in Teague – the youngest of seven
children born to William Silas and Minnie Lee (Tedder) Bond.
After their marriage, Byron was inducted into the U.S. Army during World
War II, and in May 1943, he embarked to the Southwest Pacific. He was a Staff
Sergeant, participating in the Battle of the Philippine Islands, where he
received shrapnel through his chest and lung. He was awarded the Bronze Star and
the Purple Heart, and after twenty-five months of service and with the end of
the war, Byron returned to Teague where his wife and two-year old daughter
lived. Three other children were born there before Byron moved his family to
Marlin, Falls County, Texas.
Byron was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marlin
until his retirement. Tommye became associated with the Majestic Flower Shop,
and I became owner and manager of that business. She is a member of the First
Baptist Church, where all her family became members, and she is involved
in many r community activities.
The four children of Byron Vern and Tommye Clydine (Bond) Little were:
Bobbie Vern Little, b August 14, 1943 in Teague, Texas, was a past
president of the Marlin Chapter of Future Homemakers of America-married Doyle
Coslin of Ennis, where they reside, and have three children: Darrell Ray Coslin,
who married Susan King of ] Dallas; Carolyn Deneen Coslin, who married Michael 1
Manry of Ennis; and Darren Lee Coslin, who is unmarried and resides in Ennis,
Texas.
Gerald Ray Little, b August 27, 1946 in Teague, Texas, was a member of
the Future Farmers of America - Marlin Chapter, married Alice Morris - a
daughter of Albert B. Morris of Marlin, and they have t twin daughters, Lisa
Marie and Linda Michelle Little and a son, Jonathan Alan Little, of Marlin.
Karen Ann Little, b May 8, 1949 in Teague, Texas, was a member of Future
Homemakers of America - Marlin Chapter, and
married first to Randall Ramsey, J and married second to Daniel ("Danny") Meyer
of c Mansfield, Texas - having one daughter, Lori Renee Ramsey, by her first
marriage.
Wendell Clay Little, b October 22, 1951 in Teague, Texas, was a member of
the Future Farmers of America - Marlin Chapter, and married Glenda Railsback of
Reagan, Texas, and they have four sons: Wendell c Clay Little, Jr.; Wesley Kyle
Little, William Chad Little, and Wilson Cody Little. The family reside in Kosse,
Limestone County, Texas.
