     John H. Killgore, b May 24, 1835 in Georgia, d February 20, 1901 in Falls County, Texas and buried in Chilton Cemetery - was a son of natives of Georgia. About 1863 in Waller County, Texas, John H. was married to Eliza Ann Gilbert, b 1843 in Texas, whose father was born in Louisiana, and her mother in Illinois.

    

     John H. and Eliza Ann moved from Waller County to Falls County, Texas about 1878, and settled in the Chilton area. They were the parents of six identified children:  

    

     Mary Jane Killgore (called "Mollie"), b 1864 in Texas - married in Falls County, Texas on January 1, 1882 to Calvin L. Whatley, b 1852 in Georgia - a son of Wilson and

Mary Whatley, natives of Georgia, who settled in Falls County, Texas prior to 1859.

    

     William C. Fred Killgore, b ca 1867 in Waller County, Texas, died after 1939 - married June 20, 1888 in Falls County, Texas to Jane C. Womack, and resided in Chilton, Texas.

    

     John S. Killgore, b February 19, 1869 in Waller County, Texas, d February 19, 1969 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas - married on December 20, 1896 to Martha Sue LeFevre, who died after 1939. John and Martha Sue (called "Mattie") moved to Limestone County, Texas from Falls County in 1900, and resided there until 1936 when they moved to McGregor - returning to Mexia the same year. John was a member of the Woodmen of the World, I.O.O.F. and Knights ofPythias. They had two daughters and three sons: Mrs. E. B. Larson, and Miss Lottie Killgore, of Mexia; John Ralph Killgore, b 1904 at Coolidge, d February 4, 1962 in New York while on a visit from Rosebud, Falls County, Texas; Glynn L. Killgore, of McGregor, Texas; and Granville Gilbert Killgore, of Mexia, Texas.

    

     Grace Ann Eliza Killgore, b 1872 in Waller County, Texas - married in Falls County, Texas on December 15, 1886 to J. F. Glover.

    

     Walter R. Killgore, b April 8, 1873 in Waller County, Texas, d February 21, 1935 and buried in Chilton Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - married in Falls County, Texas on December 29,1901 to Nancy Tennessee Miller (called "Tennie"), b May 14, 1884 in Wilson County, Texas, d March 14, 1920. Among their children were: Leo Malcolm Killgore, b April 3, 1907, d April 2, 1973 - who married July 31, 1926 to Littye Oneda Gilliam; James P. Killgore, b February 19, 1920, three weeks before the death of his mother, d June 6, 1920 and buried in Chilton Cemetery. Other children are unidentified.

    

     Carl Gilbert Killgore, b January 11, 1876, d April 23, 1950 and buried in Chilton Cemetery - married in Falls County, Texas August 10, 1902 to Saddie L. Blackburn, b May 4, 1883, d February 19, 1953 and buried in Chilton Cemetery.  Two children are buried by them: Cecil Killgore, b November 7, 1908, d April 1, 1925; and Garland Killgore, b February 15, 1916, d March 5, 1916. Another son, James W. Killgore, was a graduate of Chilton High School, entered the U.S. Navy in 1944, where he served during World War II in the Pacific as SK 3/C. He was awarded the South Pacific Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and others.

     John Hardin Killgore was the son of Joseph T. and Teresa (Smith) Killgore who arrived in Velasco, Texas from Georgia in December 1835.

 

     John served in the Confederate Army from 1861-1865 in C.D. Cook's Regiment, Nichol's Battery.  He was honorably paroled after the Civil War at Camp Lubbock, Houston, Texas.

 

     "No. 1179

    "I, the undersigned, Prisoner of War belonging to the Army of the Trans-Mississippi Department, having been surrendered by General E. Kirby Smith, C.S.A., Commanding said Department to Major General E.R.S. Canby, U.S.A., Commanding Army and Division of West Mississippi, do hereby give my solemn Parole of Honor, that I will not hereafter serve in the Armies of the Confederate States, or in any military capacity whatever, against the United States of American, or render aid to the enemies of the latter, until duly exchanged, or otherwise released from the obligations of this parole by the authority of the Government of the United States.

     Eliza Ann (Gilbert) Killgore was born January 1843 in (probably) Washington Co., TX. Eliza was the daughter of Thomas Y. Gilbert born in Louisiana and Mahulda Wilhelm, daughter of Richard and Sarah (Seymour) Wilhelm.  Eliza Ann Gilbert and John Killgore were married 23 April 1863, Harris Co., TX, Vol. I, 1837-1865.  Eliza Ann (Gilbert) Killgore died 17 April 1920 in Lometa, Lampasas Co., TX. and is buried in Chilton Cemetery, Falls Co., TX. 

 

      Grace Ann Eliza 'Della' Killgore, born 18 March 1871 in Waller County, Texas - married first in Falls County, Texas on December 15, 1886 to James F. Glover.  She married second abt. 1892 to William F. Lintow.  Died April 1936, Tulare Co., California.  One child by James F. Glover, Eliza L. b. Dec 15 1887 died Nov 03 1890.  Buried Blevins Cemetery.
     5 children by William F. Lintow:
     Bertha M.; Louis Ernest; Roy William; Edith Grace and Laura Lintow.

 

      Della and Grace were the same person.
