Henry
Columbus Jones, b August 26,1882 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas, d February 20,
1965 in Marlin, and buried there in Calvary Cemetery - was a son of Columbus
Moore and Georgia Virginia (Phipps) Jones.
On
December 12, 1906, Henry Columbus Jones was married in Coleman, Texas to Agnes
Weatherred, b June 3, 1879 in Oceola, Hill County, Texas, d December 14,1966 in
Marlin, Texas and buried in Calvary Cemetery by her husband - a daughter of
William Washington and Anna Margaret (Brown) Weatherred.
Henry
owned a farm northwest of Marlin, and it was on that land that he farmed, and
raised stock. He and Agnes were the parents of two sons:
William
Henry Jones, b January 1, 1911 in Marlin, Texas, d September 24, 1979 and buried
in Calvary Cemetery - married February 1, 1933 to Lottie Mae Kennedy, b November
11,1906- a daughter of James Kennedy and his first wife. William Henry and
Lottie Mae had two children: James Walton Jones, b November 13, 1936, who is a
graduate of Texas A&M University and a Lt. Colonel in the National Guard - who
married June 13, 1959 to Billie Barnett, b July 4, 1939 - a
daughter of Hardy and Addie (Allen) Barnett. James Walton and Billie are members
of the First United Methodist Church of Marlin, and they have one daughter, Judy
Elizabeth Jones, b March 6,1964. The second child of William Henry and Lottie

(Kennedy) Jones was Susan Jones, b August 1944, who married first to John Barclay and had a daughter, Dina Barclay; married second to Richard King and had no issue, and resides in Humble, Texas.
Walton
Jones, b September 18, 1913 in Marlin, Texas - married first on November 24,
1937 to Frances Anderson and had Brenda Ann Jones, b October 15, 1940 - who
married Harry Leroi Baker, and had no issue. Brenda majored in Psychology, and
has earned her Ph.D., and resides in Birmingham, Michigan, where she practices
her profession at Wayne State University. Walton married second on January 18,
1947 to Mary Frances Robinson, and they had two children: Walton Robinson Jones,
and Mary Elizabeth Jones (called "Betty").
Henry
farmed with his father, adding and improving the acreage and products raised.
They took great pride in the vegetable, fruits, grains, and livestock, and
exhibited them in fairs throughout the Central Texas area, and at the Texas
State Fair in Dallas.
Agnes
(Weatherred) Jones, who was born in Hill County, Texas, had a rich heritage in
Texas. Her great grandfather, Colonel Francis Marcus Weatherred, brought his
family to Texas from Tennessee in 1835, and took part in the Texas War for
Independence in 1836. He and his wife, Nancy, were buried in Milam, Sabine
County, Texas, where a State of Texas
Monument marks their burial place. Their son, James Madison Weatherred,
and his son, William Washington Weatherred, lived in Hill County and Coleman
County, Texas; and it was from her parents in Coleman County that Agnes
married Henry Columbus Jones, and came to Marlin in 1906, where she lived the
rest of her life.
