Ulysses S. Janes, b February 9, 1891 at Caldwell, Burleson County,
Texas - lives in Marlin, Falls County, Texas in 1986. He was a son of Patrick
Green and Biddie Ann (Glover) Janes, who emigrated to Durango in Falls County in
December 1900. Biddie Ann's parents moved to Michigan to an Israelite Colony,
but her husband, Patrick Green Janes, refused to let her go with them.

1924 in Falls County, Texas, Ulysses S. Janes was married to Mary Ada Grisham, b
December 25, 1893 at Durango, lives in Marlin in 1986 - a daughter of John H.
and Deloach (Crouch) Grisham.
Mary Ada
was a graduate of Sam Houston Normal College, and taught school at Shield's
Academy and in Lott, before her marriage. The couple lived in Durango and were
members of the Methodist Church. When they retired, they moved to Marlin, where
three of their daughters also reside. For several years, the couple operated
Pyland's Army Surplus Store on Live Oak Street for their son-in-law, Sam B.
Pyland.

S. and Mary Ada (Grisham) Janes were the parents of six children:
Wilson
Janes - married and moved away. No further information.
Betty
Janes-married Morgan Maxey, who is now retired from a career as an officer in
the military, and they reside in Marlin, Texas.
Don
Janes-married and moved away. No further information.
James Lys Janes - married
and moved away. No further information.
Lucy Janes - married Samuel B. Pyland, and had Samuel B. Pyland,
Jr., who married Peggy Luther; and David Pyland. Sam and Lucy reside in Marlin,
and own Pyland's Office Supplies and the Pyland Army Surplus Store.
Mary Janes - married Billy Jack Adams, and both are in the
profession of Education. Bill taught and served as principal in Lott High School
before it was consolidated with Rosebud, and subsequently taught in Rosebud-Lott
High School and the Marlin Independent School District - retiring in 1986. Mary
was a Vocational Economics graduate of Baylor University, and received her
M.A. degree in Counseling at Texas A&M University. She is employed by the Marlin
Independent School District as Vocational Counselor. Billy Jack and Mary had
three children: Kathy Adams; Billy Jack Adams, Jr.; and Larry Dean Adams, b
December 5, 1952, d June 13, 1981 and buried in the Chilton Cemetery. Billy Jack
and Mary reside in Marlin, Texas.
