MADISON LOVE JAMISON,
JR.

Madison Love Jamison, Jr., b November 7,1922 in Lynn County, Texas - was a son
of Madison Love and Blanche (Keeling) Jamison, Sr. Madison Love, Jr. moved to
Marlin, Falls County, Texas from Hearne with his mother, step-father, Perry
Isaac Duncan, and an uncle, Cecil Brent Jamison.
M. L. enrolled in the third grade in Marlin Elementary School - graduating in
1939 from Marlin High School. He wanted to be a mechanic, as were his father and
uncle, but during the depression he was unable to find an apprenticeship job.
After spending the summer with Grandfather, Charles Perry Duncan, at Wheelock,
M. L. enlisted in the Regular U.S. Army at age 18 years. He was assigned to Dodd
Field at Fort Sam Houston, where there was no running hot water at that time.
The tent was heated with a wood stove, and there were six occupants of each
tent.
On December 7, 1941, events changed with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor;
and eleven days later, the unit was sent out to establish and man new units and
installations. In August 1942, M. L. was sent to McCloskey General Hospital at
Temple, Texas, where he met and married on October 10, 1942 to Romilda Jewel
Pfiester. During World War II, he served in the China-Burma-India Theater, the
army of occupation in Germany, and in Korea. In the continental 1 United States,
he served in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, California, Missouri, and Pennsylvania -
retiring in 1960 as a Chief Warrant Officer, with a Reserve commission as
Captain.
M. L. and
Romilda have two children:
Barbara Lynn Jamison, and Steven Perry
Jamison; and they now have six grandchildren. They live in Hearne, Texas, where
M. L. is active in Historical Research of Texas Pioneers.
