John Charles Hetherington, b. October 18, 1868 in Monroe County, Alabama, d. at Reagan, Falls County, Texas on July 18, 1950, was the eldest son of John Monroe and Margaret Ann (Broughton) Hetherington. He married on November 21, 1906 to Frances Emma Tanner, b. June 21, 1888 at Reagan-a daughter of Spence Monroe and Ada Kessire (Shaunfield) Tanner of Georgia and Alabama, respectively. John Charles was not only a good farmer, but a fine carpenter, building a new house on the farm he had purchased. He was also a good barber and often cut hair on the front porch on his for ten or fifteen cents. He bought stock in the Reagan Bank, and became a member of the Board of directors. He was one of the first farmers in the area to own an automobile. Just before the depression of 1929 hit, he bought the old J. William Snell to be nearer to school and church, with the intention of building a new on the property. After the depression began, he continued to live in the old house, and farmed at Tarbox. The family of John Charles Hetherington were members of the Reagan Baptist Church, and he was himself a member for over sixty years.

John Charles and Frances Emma (Tanner) Hetherington had three sons:

Archie Herbert Hetherington, b. September 24, 1908, married December 24, 1934 at Belton, Texas to Vida Elizabeth Sesson, b. June 14, 1915 in Temple, Bell County, Texas. They lived on the farm at Tarbox before moving to Reagan. Archie raises livestock and is a fine decorator and carpenter. Archie and Vida Elizabeth have two children: Frances Elizabeth ("Beth") Hetherington, B. July 6, 1940, married Charles Boettcher, and has two children: Brenda and Jerry Boettcher; and Dan Herbert Hetherington, b. August 28, 1945, married Dianne Solley, and has two children: Kevin and Jason Hetherington.

Andrew Monroe Hetherington, b. July 1, 1912 at Reagan, was inducted into the army in November 1943 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In addition to service on different posts in the United States, he was in Okinawa from 1945 to March 1946 with the 1481st Engineer Maintenance Company. Discharged at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he located in Oklahoma City-of his wife, Irene Sigred Nilsson, b. November 15, 1914, whom he had married there on May 12, 1935. They have one child, Donald Melvin Hetherington.

John Arthur Hetherington, b. April 4, 1915 at Reagan, married June 10, 1939 in Bremond, Robertson County, Texas to Obelia Marks, b. March 23, 1917 at Rogers, Texas. Arthur was inducted into the Army Air Corps and served two and one-half years in England, France, and Germany during World War II. John Arthur and Obelia also settled in Oklahoma City, where their three children were born: Shirley Gale, b. June 13, 1943; Harry Dwayne, b. July 27, 1947, d. July 28, 1947; and Linda Kay, b. August 22, 1950. John Arthur works at Tinker Field, Oklahoma City, as an Aircraft Servicing Flight Electrician.
