LESTER ONDAL HAY
Lester Ondal Hay, b July 31, 1901 in the Eddy Community of McLennan
County, Texas, d September 12, 1956 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried in
Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin - was one of nine children of Robert Edward Lee
Hay, b 1874, d 1919 and buried in Eddy Cemetery-a son of Hardy and Lavinia Hay
of Georgia and Mississippi, respectively, who settled in 1876 in Eddy, Texas,
and his wife, Zena (Byrd) Hay, b 1879, d 1939 and buried by her husband.
Lester Ondal Hay (called "Les" or "L. 0.") came to Falls County -
settling in Marlin, in 1931. He was elected sheriff of the county, and served in
that office from 1935 to 1946. He was known throughout the state for his
fairness in law, and for the respect and compassion he gave his fellow men. He
served in the U.S. Navy during World War I, aboard the Battleship Texas.
L. O. Hay was married to LaNella Blanche Thompson of Troy, Texas, who d
July 13, 1963 and was buried by her husband - a daughter of Quince W. and Hattie
(Green) Thompson, of Durango, Falls County, Texas, and later who resided in
Troy, Texas. LaNella Blanche was a schoolteacher at the time of their marriage.
Her father was a farmer, pharmacist, lumberman and ginning pioneer. Lester Ondal
and LaN ella Blanche (Thompson) Hay were the parents of three sons:
Lester Ondal Hay, Jr. - who married Mary Frances Springfield of Lott,
Falls County, Texas, and had one son: Lester Ondal Hay, III ("Trey"), who
married Pamela Louise Johnson of Colorado, where they now live, and have three
children: Elisabeth Anne, Justin Andrew, and Andrew Reed Hay. Lester Ondal Hay,
Jr. is postmaster of Marlin.
Edward Lee Hay - who married Elise Criss Waggoner of Fort Worth, Tarrant
County, Texas, and had three children: Edward Lee Hay, Jr., Lynn Diane Hay, and
Leslie Waggoner Hay. Edward Lee Hay received his law degree from The University
of Texas, and he engages in farming and cattle interests - residing in Fort
Worth.
Hugh Thompson Hay

married Margaret Ann Tate of the Blue Ridge Community in
Falls County, Texas, and they had Hugh Scott Hay who married Lois Ann Corpora
and has Nathan Scott Hay and Justin Hay; and LaNella Ann Hay who married James
Rekieta and has Jonathan Hay Rekieta. Hugh Thompson Hay is an X-ray technician,
and they reside in Marlin, Texas.
