Lela (Hansford) Gray Kinncannon

It has been said that an apple never falls far from its tree. That saying is so true of those that are born in certain areas. They may go away for a spell, but they seem to find themselves very close to at the end of life’s journey.

We can say that this was true of Lela Hansford. Lela was born in Bell county Texas to Benjamin Dudley Hansford and Mary Sims October 18, 1875.  Her father was the son Judge John M. Hansford, a Judge during the REPUBLIC of Texas.

Lela's father was hung over at Old Perry in 1877, she was just two, she had only one brother and he was named after his father who was Benjamin Dudley Hansford.

Her mother married twice after that, once to a Kirkpatrick then to a W. J. Mclain.  It appears that when her brother went to Dallas she soon followed and it was there that she met and married C. M. Orr 5/16 /1894. Her second marriage was to a Mr. L. D. GRAY the census record in San Antonio TX. states that she was divorced.

She came back to Waco and on April 22,1911 she married Benjamin Riley Kincannon.  Benajamin Riley Kincannon is part of the Kincannon family that resided over at Bruceville Texas. She (Lela’s Death Certificate) and Benjamin Riley are buried side by side at Bruceville Texas.

They farmed the land in Falls county.  Lela would be cousins to the McGlothlins that lived in Falls county. Her aunt would be my gt gt grandmother. That same aunt was her fathers sister and her name was Martha Hansford McGlothlin

Lela and Benjamin lived at Chilton there in Falls county Texas for many years.  It was there at Chilton that she died on December 25 1934. So you can see that she wondered away for spell but came back nearly full circle, like the apples that falls and, and rolls till it comes to a stop.  As told by Barbara LeMeilleur Hill
