In 1830, Samuel and Mary lived in Clarke County, where their nine children were born, and Mary died. The children were:

William A. Hancock, b 1822; John W~ Hancock, b 1824; Elizabeth (Hancock) Rose, b 1826; Patricia Ann (Hancock) Quick, b 1828; James A. Hancock, b 1830; Mary Hancock, b 1832; Wesley P.      On March 14, 1841 in Henry County, Georgia, Samuel Hancock married second to Mrs. Sarah Holliday, b 1800 in South Carolina, d 1880 in Falls County, Texas; and they moved with his large family to Tallapoosa County, Alabama, where their only child was born:

Samuel B. Hancock, b 1842 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, d 1871 in Falls County, Texas - married in December 1866 to Louisa Jane Adair.

Mr. Hancock was a farmer, owning a mill, livestock, and tools - all mentioned in his Will; but when he died in 1866, there was little left after his debts were paid. Samuel M. Bell was appointed administrator of his estate; and he may have been Sarah's brother, although not identified as to a relationship. Samuel Bell did not close the estate, and the widow, Sarah, and her son, Samuel B. Hancock, sold everything and moved to Texas with Samuel B. Hancock's wife and her family.
