PETER FRANK HACKEL
Peter Frank Hackel, b ca 1870, d April 5, 1925 - was a son of Fred and
Annie (Dillinger) Hackel. Peter Frank Hackel married in Tyler, Texas to Viola
Elizabeth Davidson, b October 3, 1878 in Black Rock, Arkansas, d May 7, 1960 in
Marlin. They moved to Marlin in 1906 with five children, after having lived in
Tyler, Beeville, and Corsicana, Texas. Mr. Hackel was a painter and papering
contractor.
The Hackel family were members of the First Baptist Church, and all their
sons were active in community and civic affairs. In 1949, their son, Frank, sold
an interest in his business, Hackel Motor Company, to his two brothers, Louie
Frederick and Leroy Hackel, and they continued the business until August 8,
1968, when the business was sold to Ralph James and Dick Gordon Garrett.
The five children of Peter Frank and Viola Elizabeth (Davidson) Hackel
were:
Frank Hackel - who married Stella Bob ("Bobbye") Farris, and reared her
niece and nephew - having no children of their own.
Louie Fredrick Hackel - who married Martell Lake Hunt of Klindike, Texas,
and had one daughter.
Leroy Hackel married Maxine. They established Golden Years Nursing in 1957. Their daughters are Kathy Hackel and Joanne Hackel.
Valera (Hackel) Wayland, who lived in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mary Ella (Hackel) Henry, who lived in Port Arthur, Texas.
