THOMAS GRAHAM GLASS, M. D.
Thomas Graham Glass, b October 8, 1899 in Lott Falls County, Texas, d
February 10, 1969 in Marlin Texas - a son of Thomas Franklin and Alice (Hodges)
Glass, moved to Marlin with his parents when he was 8 years old. He attended the
Marlin public schools, and received his Medical degree in 1924 from The
University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas After his internship at
Cleveland City Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, he did post graduate work at Mayo
Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and later studied in New York City and Boston,
Massachusetts. He was a member of the staff of Buie Clinic and Hospital until
his retirement; a Fellow of the Texas Society of Enterologists and
Proctologists; and in 1935, he was named a Fellow of the American College of
Surgeons. An active member of the Falls County Medical Society, he served as its
president, and was a member and vice presiden1 of Texas Medical Association. He
was a member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Glass was Falls County
Health Officer for many years - a veteran of World War I, and received a special
award for 25 years of active service in the Falls County Selective Service
System.
On January 12, 1926, Dr. Glass married Dorothy Marshall- daughter of
Walter Hayes and Bertha (Barker) Marshall of New York City and Dallas, Texas Mr.
Marshall was executive secretary to the late Colonel E. H. R. Green and his
famous mother, Hetty Green.
Dr. Thomas G. and Dorothy (Marshall) Glass had three children:
Thomas Graham Glass, Jr., M.D., is a surgeon in San Antonio, Texas,
married Helen Burk of that city and had four children: Thomas Graham Glass III
who married Birgit Junfin, DDS, of Eagle Pass, Texas, twin sons Dean Burk and
Phillip Konrad, and a daughter Helen Kathryn.
Edward Marshall Glass - twin to Dorothy Ann Glass - became a broker and
then an investment adviser with Midland Investment Company of San Antonio. He
married Carol Ann Harter of Marlin, Texas and they were the parents of Carol
Ann. Glass, II and William Edward Glass.
Dorothy Ann Glass - twin to Edward Marshall Glass - married John Purdy
Robbins, III, a lawyer with a partnership in an independent oil firm, and they
have two sons. John Purdy Robbins
IV and Thomas Glass Robbins. The family resides in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Thomas Graham Glass, M.D. was a member of the Methodist Church. He was
active as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a member and past president of
the Marlin Rotary Club, a Mason, member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and a
Shriner. He served on the Brazos River Authority Board for many years.
