GEORGE STEPHEN GARRISON

 

 

     George Stephen Garrison - a Retired Major of the U.S. Air Force - was b June 13, 1919 in Monette, Missouri - a son of Grover S. and Grace (Lewis) Garrison. On June 5, 1942, while he was an Army Air Corps Cadet, he married in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Marion Jean Price, b August 17, 1920 at Stranger, Falls County, Texas - a daughter of William Archer and Lula A. (Hughey) Price.

     George Stephen (called "Steve") Garrison's ancestors emigrated from Loudon County, Virginia to Hall County, Georgia; thence to Montgomery County, Illinois by 1830, where Caleb Garrison, b 1815 in Georgia - a son of Zebulon and Rebecca (Allen) Garrison, Sr., was married to Susannah Clark on June 1, 1836. Caleb and Susannah's seventh child, Charles Wesley Garrison, b 1854 in Illinois, married in 1875 to Melissa Frances Bright, and they were Steve's grandparents. His parents, Grover S. and Grace (Lewis) Garrison, lived in Barry County, Missouri and in Oklahoma.

     Marion Jean (Price) attended school at Stranger, Reagan High School, and was a 1941 graduate of Texas Women's University - earning her degree in elementary education.

     Steve and Marion were stationed at bases in New Mexico, Nebraska, Arizona, Idaho, and Louisiana; then went to Puerto Rico and Panama. He retired after twenty-one years in military service, and the family, with four children, moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Steve was employed by the Texas Employment Com- mission, and Marion continued her teaching career in the Fort Worth Independent School District until their retirement in 1980. They moved to their and farm on the Price estate, and are enjoying a new career in gardening, and raising cattle and poultry, entertaining their children, grandchildren, and friends, and participating in community activities. They are both avid bridge players, and are members of the 42 Club in Marlin.

     The four children of George Stephen and Marion Jean (Price) Garrison are:

     Carolyn Ann Garrison, b April 17, 1943 in Albuquerque, New Mexico - married first in 1962 to Fred Hutchinson and had James Stephen Hutchinson. On December 30, 1966, Carolyn married second to Barry Black in Fort Worth, Texas, and had Kevin Black, b June 24, 1968.

Gerald Stephen Garrison, b September 14, 1946 in Falls County, Texas, served in the Vietnam War. On July 3, 1970 in Euless, Texas, he married Imelda Burns, and they had three daughters: Stephanie Marie Garrison, b February 8, 1971; Jennifer Beth Garrison, b August 28, 1973; and Kimberly Lynn Garrison, b August 8, 1980. Gerald is a computer technician.

     Thomas Price Garrison, b June 2, 1949 in Falls County, Texas - married August 21, 1970 to Vicki Lynn Anders in Euless, Texas. They have Martin Price Garrison, b September 3, 1976, and Amy Caroline Garrison, b May 6, 1979.

     Robert Allan Garrison, b March 2, 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska - married in San Marcos, Texas on July 14, 1979 to Dee Ann Fenwick. They have Ryan Allan Garrison, b August 11,1980, and reside in Dublin, California.
