Kenneth Griffith Garrett, b. May 7, 1924 at Stranger, Falls County, Texas-was a son of Leonard
Lenore and Lucy Carroll ("Carl" Hargrove) Garrett. On November 4, 1950 in Marlin, Texas,
Kenneth married Mary Ann Peevy, b. December 13, 1928 at Tomlinson Hill, Falls County,
Texas-a daughter of John Calhoun and Clara Eliza ("Nida" Tomlinson) Peevy-whose families
were early settlers of Falls County.
Kenneth entered the U.S. Army in 1943, served in Europe in World War II, and was awarded
five Battle Stars, the European Theater Ribbon, and a Presidential Citation. He is the owner of
some of the Garrett land at Stranger that has been in the Garrett family for over 130 years. In
addition to farming and ranching, Kenneth has been employed at the Veterans Administration
Hospital in Marlin for many years. Kenneth and Mary Ann also have her share of the land from
the Peevy estate. They have three children:
Beverly Ann Garrett, b. April 21, 1955, became a school teacher-married Wesley Zboril, D.D.S.,
of Garwood, Texas. Wesley's dental practice is in Sealy, Texas, and they reside in Bellville and
have no children.
Kenneth Grant Garrett, b. October 11, 1956 in Marlin-married Melanie Wetzel of Riesel, Texas,
and has two children: Kristi Lea Garrett, and Kenneth Blake Garrett. Ken is a rancher in Falls
County.
Donna Cheryl Garrett, b. April 22, 1958 in Marlin, Texas-married Rickey A Mills, b. December
24, 1956-son of Marvin M. and Nell (Stone) Mills of Mart, Texas. Rickey works for the Texas
State Highway Department, and Donna works for The Marlin Democrat. They have one
daughter, Keri Ann Mills.
