James Leonard Garrett, b. July 22, 1912 at Stranger, Falls County, Texas, d. February 17, 1983 in Marshall, Texas-was a son of Leonard Lenore and Lucy Carrol (Hargrove) Garrett. On August 20, 1930 in Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas, James Leonard married Frankie Lou Brothers, b. May 31, 1916 at Stranger-a daughter of Jesse Clarence ("Boog") and Marguerite Ann (Millerman) Brothers. James Leonard and Frankie Lou were both reared in the Stranger Community and attended school there.

After their marriage, they farmed and ranched for a few years, and then moved to rural Arcadia, Texas where James Leonard owned a service station in a nearby community, Alta Loma.

James Leonard and Frankie Lou (Brothers) Garrett were the parents of two children:

Gene Morris Garrett, b. October 14, 1933 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas-who married December 25, 1952 in Fayetteville, Mississippi to Sarah Lou Britton, b. July 18, 1937 in Cameron, Milam County, Texas-a daughter of James Lee and Edith (McCall) Britton of Cameron. They had four issue: James David Garrett, b. February 6, 1954 in Freeport, Brazoria County, Texas-married March 13, 1976 in Galveston County, Texas to Karen Alicia Marchal, b. November 12, 1954 in Iowa-daughter of Paul Michael and Mary Louise (Dickson) Marchal; Theresia Deneice Garrett, b. March 2, 1955 in Brazoria County, Texas-married May 22, 1976 in Galveston County, Texas to Edcar Escar Johnson, Jr., b. February 3, 1952 in Galveston County-a son of Edcar Escar and Katy Marie (Emmitte) Johnson, Sr.; Mona Beth Garrett, b. April 5, 1961 in Galveston County, Texas who married June 1, 1978 in Arcadia, Texas to Jerry Loyd Miller, b. May 11, 1959-a son of Robert Marshall and Jeanette Ann (Phelps) Miller, and had Stephanie Lynn Miller, b. January 17, 1979; and Jason Matthew Garrett, b. November 25, 1968 in Alvin, Texas.

Joan Elizabeth Garrett, b. February 23, 1938 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas-married December 7, 1959 in League City, Galveston County, Texas to Lake Littlejohn, Jr., M.D., b. May 21, 1925 in Marshall, Texas-a son of Lake and Frances Louise (Daniels) Littlejohn. They had four children: Mark Christopher Littlejohn, b. June 7, 1962; Laura Littlejohn, b. August 13, 1964; Stephen Garrett Littlejohn, b. July 13, 1966; and Suzanne Littlejohn, b. April 24, 1974-all born in Marshall, Texas. Joan Elizabeth received her R.N. at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and Lake received his M.D. degree there-interning in Washington, D.C., and completing his Residency in Psychiatry in Houston, Texas before establishing his practice in Marshall.

Frankie Lou (Brothers) Garrett continues to reside in her near Arcadia, Texas.
