GARRETT, GLENN WILLIS

Glenn Willis Garrett, b. September 28, 1906 at Stranger, Falls County,
Texas, d. March 19, 1979 and buried in Stranger Cemetery-was a son
of Leonard Lenore and Lucy Carrol ("Carl" Hargrove) Garrett. On
October 21, 1929 in the Garrett at Stranger, Glenn was married
by Reverend Robert R. Crockett, Cumberland Presbyterian minister, to
Ruby Elnora Ray, b. October 12, 1915 in Alabama-a daughter of Andrew
Jackson and Fannie Emma (Dixon) Ray of Alabama who had settled in
Stranger, Falls County, Texas.
Glenn and Elnora lived on the farm at Stranger all their lives, moving in
with his parents after his father suffered a stroke. The two-story
burned in 1953, and the couple built a new bungalow on the site
of the older home. Glenn and Elnora were the parents of five
children-four living to adulthood.
Garland Ray Garrett, b. October 28, 1933, moved to Clute, Texas where he
married Sue Franks.
Donald Glenn Garrett, b. February 15, 1935, d. December 7, 1935 and buried
in Garrett Cemetery at Stranger.
Janniece Carolyan Garrett, b. February 12, 1937-married John Edward Thomas,
had four children, and now resides in Temple, Texas.
Linda Gale Garrett, b. June 17, 1942-married first to Stephen Hardy Jones of
the Fairview Community, Limestone County, Texas, and had three
children: Rhonda Gayle Jones, b. August 28, 1962; Stephen Randall
Jones, b. November 7, 1963; and Brian Keith Jones, b. June 11, 1970.
Linda has been employed by the Marlin National Bank for many years.
She married second to G. L. Scott, and they reside in Marlin, Texas.
Jerry Lynn Garrett, b. November 20, 1944 in Marlin, Texas-married Janis
McKelroy-a daughter of James McKelroy of Kermit, Texas. Jerry worked
at Marlin Mills, and farms and ranches at Stranger, where he resides
in his own near his mother. They have two children: Leonard Ray
Garrett, b. April 16, 1969 in Waco, Texas; and Mistie Lynn Garrett,
b. February 2, 1983.
Glenn Willis Garrett was reared in the Presbyterian denomination, while
Elnora (Ray) Garrett continues in the Baptist denomination in which
she was reared. She remains at the Garrett at Stranger.
