Leonard Albert Fischer, b. 1918 in Marlin-a son of Walter Dan and Mabel (Mims)
Fischer, graduated from Marlin High School. He served as a Navy Sea-Bee during
World War II, seeing duty in the Pacific and in Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
In 1939, Leonard was married to Henrietta Kelly, b. 1918 in Kosse, Limestone
County, Texas-a daughter of Levi Butler Kelly of Fairview, b. 1868 in Rome,
Georgia, and Tara Della (Atkinson) Kelly, b. 1877 in Rosebud, Falls County,
Texas. Henrietta's parents were married at Stranger in East Falls County. Her
paternal grandparents were G. E. Kelly and Sarah Butler of South Carolina; and
her maternal grandparents were Thomas Atkinson and Martha Campbell (a Tennessee
pioneer).
In 1957, Leonard became sole owner of the Fischer Company-a plumbing business.
He and Henrietta had two children:
Beverly Kay Fischer married James N. Stanfield of Dallas, and their children are
Kelly Leigh and Kay Lynn Stanfield; and Michael Scott Fischer, b. ca 1948,
married to Frances Hamilton, b. ca 1949-a daughter of Gordon Hamilton and
Elizabeth ("Bitsy") Johnson, and they were the parents of Walter Scott Fischer,
b. ca 1970, and Elizabeth Ann Fischer. Michael Scott Fischer was associated with
his father at Fischer Company at the time of a fatal heart attack in early 1986.
