Edward Hardiway Featherston. M.D., b. November 4, 1813 in Tennessee, d. April
23, 1885 at Mooreville and buried in Mooreville Cemetery in Falls County,
Texas-was a son of Henry F. and Nancy (Marshall) Featherston. Dr. Featherston
married first to Julia Ann Thompson, b. 1816 Kentucky, d. prior to 1870.
They were the parents of a son:
Edward John Featherston, b. 1836 in Arkansas, who married Catherine Warren, who
died in Missouri ca 1864, who came to Falls County, Texas with his father, about
1870.
Dr. Featherston had lived in Missouri and Arkansas before emigrating to the
Mooreville area of Falls County, Texas, after the death of his first wife, Julia
Ann. In 1871, he was appointed Postmaster of the Carolina Post Office near
Durango. He married second to Mrs. Sarah (Raines) Nichols, b. ca 1830 in North
Carolina. They had no children.
Dr. Featherston was an early doctor in west Falls County, and his descendants
have been prominent in the history of Chilton, Texas, where some continue to
reside.
