William Warren
Fannin (called "Bill"), b. April 25, 1904 at Stranger, is residing in Marlin,
Texas in 1986 - a son of Warren Oscar and Sarah ("Sallie" Varnado) Fannin. On
February 7, 1925, Bill married Juanita Towers, b. November 18, 1907 in Limestone
County, Texas, d. February 24, 1985 in Marlin, Texas and buried in Stranger
Cemetery-a daughter of Junius Elbert Towers, b. 1876, d. 1918, and his wife, Mae
Sue (Smith) Towers, b. January 14, 1884, d. December 31, 1963 and both buried in
the Thornton Cemetery at Thornton, Limestone County, Texas. Junius Elbert Towers
was a son of C. R. and Annie Adelaide Towers, and C. R. Towers was a son of
Isaac A. and Mary Ann Towers - all buried in Thornton Cemetery.
After their
marriage, Bill and Juanita (Towers) Fannin resided in Frederick, Oklahoma for a
few years – returning to the Stranger Community, where they lived in the Fannin
family until their retirement, moving at that time to Marlin. The family still owns the Stranger farm
and home.
William Warren and
Juanita (Towers) Fannin were the parents of three children:
Billy Gene
Fannin, b. February 5, 1929 in Oklahoma, grew up at Stranger. He married
September 29, 1950 to Luella June McIntyre, b. October 10, 1933 in Harmony,
Oklahoma - a daughter of Calvin A. and Agnes Virgilene (Cassel) McIntyre. Billy
Gene and Luella June had three daughters: Brenda Janeane Fannin, b. March 12,
1952 in Independence, Kansas-married first to Michael Timothy Kearns and had
Amanda Marie Kearns and Adam Timothy Kearns, and married second to George Crum,
and has no children by this second marriage; Sheryla June Fannin, b. November 7,
1953 in Kansas who married in Sacramento, California to Peter William Condon who
was in the U.S. Armed Services, and had Paul William Condon, b. September 28,
1975 in England and Matthew James Condon, b. August 28, 1979 in California; and
Gayla Marie Fannin, b. September 11, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona who married Robert
Range and has no issue. Billy Gene and Luella June (McIntyre) Fannin have been
members of the Christ Community Church in Sacramento, California. He is a
district manager of Southern Pacific Railroad Pipeline, and is currently in
process of being relocated to Midland, Texas.
Wanda Sue
Fannin, b. June 4, 1931 in Oklahoma - married in June 1948 to Temple Henderson -
a rancher, and they reside in Ingram near Kerrville, Texas. Temple and Wanda Sue
have four children: Thomas Henderson, Jan Henderson, James Warren Henderson, and
Russell ("Rusty") Henderson.
Wilbur Gerald
Fannin, b. July 27, 1934 at Stranger - married October 4, 1952 to Lucy Lee
Winfrey, b. November 3, 1932 in Marlin - a daughter of Elisha Embrey and Ora Lee
(Norwood) Winfrey, II. Wilbur is the owner of Fannin Enterprises and was manager
for some years of the Exxon Service Station in Marlin, Texas. Lucy manages the
Housing Authority of Marlin. They are the parents of three daughters: Debra Ann
Fannin, b. August 21, 1953 in Marlin who married March 5, 1976 to Stephen Wayne
Durban, b. January 29, 1952, and had Christopher Robin Durban, b. November 8,
1973 and Tamara Sian Durban, b. September 9, 1977, and reside in Conroe, Texas;
Cynthia Gail Fannin, b. August 21, 1955 who married January 5, 1974 to Andrew
Benjamin Thigpen, b. December 12, 1954-a son of John Emmett (called "Don") and
Elizabeth ("Bitsy" Johnson-Hamilton) Thigpen, and have Justin John Thigpen, b.
February 10, 1976, Joshua Adam Thigpen, b. April 21, 1982, and Jeremy Elisha
Thigpen, b. April 19, 1985 in Austin, Texas, where Andrew Benjamin (called
"Drew") is a C.P.A.; and Sandra Lee Fannin, b. May 26, 1961 who married Michael
Schaefer - a son of Reverend and Mrs. Edwin Schaefer, a former pastor of First
Christian Church in Marlin, and they have no issue, reside in Austin, Texas,
where Sandra Lee is a social worker and Michael is a geographier for the City of
Austin.
The children of
William Warren and Juanita (Towers) Fannin all inherited his father's
mathematical ability.
