     Willis Lang Falconer, b. June 27, 1848 in Wayne County, Mississippi, d. August 17, 1929, in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - was a son of Thomas P. and Jerusha (Lang) Falconer. He was orphaned by age ten years, and was reared by an aunt. Willis Lang Falconer served from 1864 until the end of the Civil War with the Confederate States Army, following which he returned to his farming operations in Clark County, Mississippi.

     In 1869, Willis Lang Falconer was married to Emma Shaw, b. April 22, 1850 in Mississippi, d. February 10, 1944 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - and was buried by her husband in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - a daughter of D. C. and Emma (Lang) Shaw. Emma (Lang) Shaw had married first to a Mr. Horne, and had three children in that marriage.

     The family moved to Texas-settling in Falls County, in 1885, where Mr. Falconer continued his farming pursuits - first as a tenant, next in partnership with Boliver Nettles, and for many years prior to his death on his own property between Marlin and the Brazos River. In 1894, he was elected to serve one term as Falls County Clerk, and he took out the time from his farming pursuits to fulfill that obligation.

     Willis Lang and Emma (Shaw) Falconer purchased the Stafford Academy building for their in Marlin, and spent the remainder of their lives in that residence. The home, now owned by Dr. and Mrs. Knud Normann-Petersen, has been identified with a Falls County Historical Marker from the State of Texas, and is located on Agnes Avenue, and has been maintained in excellent condition.

     The Falconers were life-long members of the Methodist Church, and both served in many official capacities in the First Methodist Church of Marlin. They were the parents of ten children:

     Boliver Lang Falconer. M.D., b. July 28, 1870 in Mississippi, D. April 26, 1953 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin. He married in 1946 in New York City to Hazel Bennett, of Thornton, Limestone County Texas - a daughter of Benjamin and Maud (Henderson) Bennett.

     George B. Falconer, b. 1872 in Mississippi, d. 1943 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - known as "Professor" Lang-was never married.

     Nettie Falconer, b. September 14, 1876 in Mississippi, d. June 29, 1956 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried in Calvary Cemetery-married in 1899 to Walter Hanz Allen, M.D., b. September 18, 1868 in Marlin, D. May 16, 1922 when the Brazos River Bridge collapsed in a bad flood.

     Mary Falconer, b. 1878 in Mississippi, d. 1961 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - married a Professor Winkler, of Tennessee.

     Daisy E. Falconer, b. 1880 in Mississippi, d. 1943 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - was not married. She moved to Washington D.C.

     Albert Shaw Falconer, b. 1881 in Mississippi, d. 1910 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - was never married.

     Theodore A. Falconer, b. in Mississippi - married Ethel Sweet, and moved away. No further information.

     Willis T. Falconer, died young.

     Emma J. Falconer ("Emily") - no further information.

     Roberta Falconer, b. 1893 in Falls County, Texas, d. 1971 - last surviving of the children of Willis Lang and Emma (Shaw) Falconer, and buried in Calvary Cemetery. She taught school in Marlin, Texas for many years, and lived in the family on Agnes Avenue. She never married.

Emma J. Falconer ("Emily") - no further information.  Jerusha Emma Falconer is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Falls Co., Texas.  She was 4 yrs old at the time of her death according to her headstone picture.  Picture submitted by Jessica Griffin.
