OGIER KING EASLEY

Ogier King Easley, b April 7, 1862 in Greenville, South Carolina, d June 13, 1939 in Rosebud, Falls County, Texas - was the fifth child of Major William King Easley, 1825-1872, of South Carolina, and his wife, Caroline (Sloan) Easley, 1831-1871, of Greenville County, South Carolina.
Ogier was eleven years of age when both his parents were deceased, and in 1873, he and his thirteenyear-old brother, Robert, came to Williamson County, Texas where an uncle and aunt, Samuel Allen and Martha (Sloan) Easley, had settled in 1852.
Ogier spent his boyhood there, then moved to Wharton, Texas, where he engaged in cattle, cotton, and rice farming.
On November 2, 1898, Ogier King Easley was married to Amelia Albertina Roecker, of Glen Flora, Texas, b November 4, 1878 in Portege, Wisconsin, d April 3, 1971 in Rosebud, Falls County, Texas and buried in Woodland Cemetery by her husband - a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Emil Roecker, whose parents had emigrated from Germany to Wisconsin.
After the marriage, Ogier and Amelia moved to San Angelo, Texas, and subsequently to Taylor, Texas before moving to Rosebud in 1910. They became members of the First Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee and Steward.
He was a member and president of the Rosebud Independent School District board, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a Vice-President of the First National Bank of Rosebud. Ogier King and Amelia Albertina (Roecher) Easley were the parents of nine children:
Mary Elizabeth Easley, b February 26, 1900 in Wharton, Texas - married on July 8, 1933 to A. E. Lord, who is now deceased.
Helen Amelia Easley, b April 10, 1903 in Wharton, Texas - married on November 22, 1930 to R. C. Brod, who is now deceased.
Carol Albertina Easley, b January 13, 1906 in San Angelo, Texas, d December 23, 1981 - married June 30, 1931 to R. B. Stedman, who is now deceased.
William Lee Roy Easley, b December 16, 1907 at Taylor, Texas, d October 17, 1972 -married June 13, 1937 to Maxine Herrod, who is now deceased.
Gilbert Carlos Easley, b April 30, 1909 at Taylor, Texas, d April 7, 1985 - married June 22, 1935 to Louise Cox.
Louise Clare Easley, b August 6, 1911 at Rosebud, Texas-married May 19, 1935 to J. M. Bennett, who is now deceased.
Bessie Ruth Easley, b July 17, 1914 at Rosebud, Texas, was a graduate of Rosebud High School, and resides in Rosebud, Texas. She did not marry.
Edythe Frances Easley, b April 25, 1918 at Rosebud - married October 22, 1943 to F. W. Hoelscher, of Westphalia.
Dorothy King Easley, b May 14, 1920 at Rosebud - married June 16, 1948 to Raymond Kasner, and resides in Rosebud.
