FLEMING TAYLOR DE GRAFFENRIED, JR.
Fleming Taylor de Graffenried, Jr., b June 18, 1863, d February 19, 1941
and buried in Chilton Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - was a son of Dr. Fleming
Taylor and Augusta G. (Townsend) de Graffenried. He married Lillian Gaines
(called "Lillie"), b December 22, 1866, d December 3, 1944 and buried in Chilton
Cemetery - a daughter of David Young and Isabelle (March) Gaines, who were both
buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin. A brother of David Young and William
Duvall Gaines was the Honorable Reuben Gaines, who was for many years, Chief
Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas.
Fleming Taylor de Graffenried, Jr. was proprietor of the Chilton
Citizen's Bank' and had extensive mercantile pursuits, as well as a cotton gin,
milling, farming, and ranching interests in and around Chilton, Texas.
Fleming Taylor and Lillian (Gaines) de Graffenried, Jr. were the parents
of five children:
Tscharner de Graffenried (called "Tes"), b
April 5, 1884, d October 1, 1962 and buried in Chilton Cemetery - married Bertha
Livingston, and had a daughter, Eloise de Graffenried.
David de Graffenried, b June 25, 1891 - married Lonye Gray, b July
25,1891, d April 1, 1963 and buried in Chilton Cemetery - had one daughter, Lucy
Jane de Graffenried.
Brian Marsh de Graffenried, b September 25, 1897, d July 20, 1935 and
buried in Chilton Cemetery - married Lucile Bowman.
Gaines de Graffenried, b August 25, 1905 - married ala (Maiden name
unknown). Gaines became the Director of The Texas Ranger Museum at Fort Fisher
in Waco, Texas.
Lillian de Graffenried, b January 25,1908.
