THOMAS TSCHARNER DE GRAFFENRIED, M.D.
Thomas Tscharner de Graffenried, M.D., b May 6, 1832 in Virginia, d
August 16, 1875 in Falls County, Texas-came to Texas with his two brothers, Dr.
William G. de Graffenried, and Dr. Fleming Taylor de- Graffenried.
Thomas Tscharner de Graffenried married Ad- rienne Townsend - a daughter
of Stephen and Sabrina (Robison) Townsend, who settled in Round Top, Texas -
then Mexico, State of Coahuila - in 1830. Adrienne's sister, Augusta G.
Townsend, married Dr. Fleming Taylor de Graffenried, and another sister, Florida
Townsend, married Captain James C. Gaither, who later became a Texas State
Legislator and represented Falls County from 1879 to 1882 in the 16th and 17th
Legislatures. Her mother, Sabrina (Robison) Townsend, was a sister to Joel
Walter Robison - an officer under General Sam Houston at the Battle of San
Jacinto, and one of the men who captured General Santa Anna.
Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Tscharner de Graffenried also settled in Falls County, in the area of Durango - later the Chilton Community. They were the parents of three children:
Mary Willie de Graffenried, b January 25, 1868 in Colorado County,
Texas, married in 1884 to Mark W.
Harwell, b November 1855 in Louisiana

a son of Mark W. and Mary B (Lyon) Harwell, who
moved to Falls County, Texas. Mark W. Harwell had several children by a former
marriage, and he and Mary Willie were the parents of two children: Sarah
Adrienne Harwell, and William Vernon Harwell.
Fleming Taylor de Graffenried, b September 17, 1869 in Colorado County,
Texas, died in 1914. He married Rebecca Mears, and had one child, Adrienne de
Graffenried, born August 17, 1898.
Thomas Tscharner de Graffenried, Jr., b 1871, d 1960 and buried in
Chilton Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - married Lula Keirsey, b 1878, no death date
on her tombstone, and buried in Chilton Cemetery - a daughter of Ben Keirsey.
