DAVIDSON, JOHN HOOD

John Hood Davidson came to Falls County in 1864 at the age of sixteen. He was born September 6, 1848 in DeKalb County, Alabama, the son of Paran and Emily (Yates) Davidson. His father had died before the family came to Texas and being the oldest loving sone he helped his Mother establish a and in a few years, when his younger brothers were old enough to take over, he went to work on a ranch in northwest Texas. After several years he took his wages in gild rather than land and came back to Falls County to start his own farm. He married Rosetta Davis, daughter of Jonathan J. and Hazel Jane (Salter) Davis, February 11, 1873. He was a successful farmer, also raising cattle and fine horses. He was interested in his community serving on the school board and as a deacon in the Baptist Church. He died at the age of 48 and is buried in the Mustang Prairie Cemetery. The children of John and Rosetta were:
1) Johnie Belle 1875 - 1969 married Walter Bruce Smith.
2) Arthur Moore 1877 - 1971 married Sallie White.
3) Walter Estelle 1880 - 1887.
4) Noah Ralph 1882 - 1976 married Ava Dickson.
5) Charles Earnest 1886 -?
6) Icy Viola 1887 - 1890.
7) Rupert Agnes 1891 - 1974 married Leonard Kerr.
