Hardy Prince Curry, M.D., b August 31, 1876 a Alto Springs in east Falls
County, Texas, d Decembe 12, 1961 and buried in Calvary Cemetery at
Marlir Falls County, Texas-was a son of Thomas Levi CUff and his
second wife, Florence Elizabeth ("Betty Brown) Curry - a daughter of
Dr. Alfred Foy Browr who settled in Falls County in 1868. Hardy
Prince CUI ry's paternal grandparents were Thomas and Matild
(Rogers) Curry, Jr., who acquired land in and settled i Falls County
in 1851.
Upon completion of public school at Alto Spring! Hardy was employed by
Wells, Fargo and Company i Bremond, Texas. On March 27, 1898, he was
marrie to Dyadema Elizabeth Gary - a twin daughter of Cra- who die
January 18, 1962.
In 1904, Hardy Prince Curry received his medic-one years. In the early
1930's, D Curry acquired the Sanitarium Drug Store in Marli] as well
as nearby farm interests, and he moved h: family to Marlin in 1935.
He then partially retire from medical practice, and devoted most of
his time 1 his farming and cattle interests until the shortage j
physicians during World War II revealed the need f( him to return to
local practice. He became associate with the Buie Clinic on a
full-time basis, for the dun tion of the war.
Dr. and Mrs. Curry were members of the Metho( ist Church, and he was a
charter member of the Fal Lodge No. 1113, A.F.&A.M. at Reagan. He
was a men ber of several Masonic bodies, and the Rotary Club. r. was
a member of the state and national medical socii ties, and a past
president of Falls County Medical 8< ciety. During his active years,
he took post-gradua1 courses at Columbia University; and during bot
World Wars I and II, he served as medical examiner f( the local
Selective Service Board. In 1939, the Texas Governor appointed him a
member of the local Volunteer Parole Board. At the end of World War
II, Dr. Curry again retired from medical practice, and devoted the
remainder of his life to the management of his land and cattle
interests.
Dr. and Mrs. Hardy Prince Curry were the parents of four children:
Joe Curry, who married Marguerite Faught.
Lucy Curry, who married Samuel Mortimer Brown.
Hardy Prince Curry, Jr., who married Onie Reed Goodrich.
Mary Elizabeth Curry, who married George Buford Wilson.
