ISAAC NEWTON CROUCH, JR.
Isaac Newton Crouch, Jr., b November 1825 in Tennessee, d April 15, 1900 at Reagan, Falls County, Texas and buried in Covington Cemetery near Reagan - was a son of Reverend-Doctor Isaac Newton and Isabelle (Deason) Crouch, Sr., who came to Texas with the Nashville Colony by 1832. After the massacre of the father by Indians in 1836, and the subsequent death of the mother in 1840, Isaac, Jr., his surviving brother and sister, and his half-brother, moved to Wheelock, Robertson County, Texas, where they lived a few years before the young men came about 1845 to the area which became Falls County in 1850.
On September 6, 1846 in Robertson County, Isaac Newton Crouch, Jr. was married to Rachel Louisa Covington, b January 16, 1826 in Tennessee, d January 26, 1887 and buried in Covington Cemetery - a daughter of John H. and Jane (Marlin) Covington.
In 1852, Isaac, Jr. purchased a 200-acre farm, which was well-stocked, and which had 100 acres cultivated. In 1862, he enlisted in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War, and served until the end of the war. He was a Falls County Commissioner in 1860; and he and his wife were charter members of the Methodist Church at Reagan, where he served as Steward and Trustee.
Isaac Newton and Rachel Louisa (Covington) Crouch, Jr. were the parents of nine children:
Isabelle Jane Crouch, b 1847 in the area of Limestone County which became Falls County, Texas, d Before 1892 - married December 14, 1865 in Falls County to John Guffee.
William W. Crouch, b 1849 - died young.
Isaac Newton Crouch, III, b 1851 in Falls County Texas-was a farmer in the Reagan Community. Nofurther information.
John A. Crouch, b July 23, 1854, d November 2 1887 and buried in Covington Cemetery near Reaga Falls County, Texas.
James J. Crouch, b January 2,1857, d February 1896 - married Virginia Mills and had Cynthia Tel perance Crouch, b October 28, 1879, d January 2 1963 and buried in Waite Cemetery at Reagan - wi married Robert Pleides Orion Adams, b April 17, 184 d December 30, 1927 at Reagan.
Annie Crouch, b 1859, died young.
Mary Elizabeth Crouch, born and died young.
Louise Crouch (called "Lula"), b August 18, 1864,d July 12, 1926 and buried at Covington Cemeterymarried Frank M. Davis, b March 4, 1866, d December 31, 1932 and buried in Covington Cemetery. Frank and Lula had four known children: James Claud Davis b December 24, 1889, d March 22, 1911; Fred Allen Davis, b June 5, 1892, d October 6, 1916; Arthur Davis, b February 20, 1896, d October 6, 1898; and Alva Davis, b March 10, 1904, d January 23, 1975 married first on 6ctober 1, 1921 to J. T. Turner; m Alice Crouch, b 1866 in Falls County, Texas married Pink Peoples, and moved to Comanche: County, Texas.
After the death of Rachel Louisa (Covington) Crouch, Isaac Newton Crouch, Jr. was married second: to Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Boren) Covington - the widow of John H. Covington, Jr., who was the brother of Isaac's first wife.
