JAMES WILLIAM COURTNEY

     James William Courtney, b January 11,1879 at Blevins, Falls County, Texas, d in Odessa, Texas - was always called "James Willie". He was a son of James Lafayette and Mary Ellen (Barron) Courtney. James Willie married Emma Lee Mayfield, and they reared five sons in West Texas where he purchased land:

     James Edwin Courtney, who married Hortense (maiden name unknown), lived in Arkansas; thence to Austin, Texas where he died in 1958.

     Noah Alvin Courtney - married Alice Hammonds, lived in Arlington, Texas, then moved to Jones County, Texas where he died in 1982.

     Melvin Willie Courtney - twin, b September 6, 1909, d 1984 - married Irene Lambert.

     Marion Byron Courtney - twin, b September 6, 1909, d 1973 in Odessa, Texas - married Lena Donaghuey, and had four children: Aza Lee Courtney, b December 26, 1929 - married James Howard Griffin of Odessa; John Eldon Courtney, Donny Ray Courtney; and Byron Max Courtney, b August 15,1944 at Odessa - married Jennifer Pye, and had Ryan Thomas and Patrick Daniel Courtney - resides in Fort Worth, Texas where he is a forensic chemist.

     B. C. ("Jack") Courtney - who married Dessie Opry and resides in Crockett, Texas.
