Last Will and Testament of Jehu Kolb
I John Kolb of Sumter County State of South Carolina. Do make this my last Will. I give, devise and bequeath my Estate and Property, both real and personal as for that is to say, The four acres of land, whereon my house is situated, having been purchased and paid for by myself I give to my Wife during her life time and at her death to my Daughter Adeline Kolb, she is to pay my other children that is to say Ephram Kolb five dollars, Benjamin Kolb five dollars, the children of Mary Henrietta Jackson (now dead) five dollars, Elizabeth Matilda Barkley five dollars, Anna Jackson five dollars. The balance of my real property that is to say two hundred acres more or less having been given to my Wife and children by the Will of the late Abraham Geddings, my Wife Sarah’s Father, it is my wish that the Will of said Abraham Geddings be followed.
My Personal Property I wish deposed of as follows. I wish my Wife Sarah Kolb to have the use of all my Personal Property during her lifetime and at her death I wish my Mule .. …. And one Sow and Pigs to go to my Daughter Adeline Kolb and one Cow and Calf be given to my son Benjamin Kolb. The balance of my Personal Property to be equally divided either by sale or allotment as the majority of the heirs may desire between the following named children, Ephram Kolb, the children of Mary Henrietta Jackson (now dead), Elizabeth Matilda Barkley and Anna Cain Jackson.
I appoint my Son Ephram Kolb, Farmer of Sumter County South Carolina Executor of this my last Will and Testament whereof I have signed, sealed and published and declared this instrument as my Will signed in Sumter County State of South Carolina this fifth day of June in the Year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Seventy Seven.
