In the name of God amen. I Sherwood JamesSingleton of the District and State, aforesaid, being of sound anddisposing mind, doth make this my last will and testament, in mannerand form following, first of all I commit my soul to the mercy of anOmnipotent God, my Body to be decently interred under the directionof my Executrix my next will and desire, is, that all my just andlawful debts should be paid, it having pleased the Almighty tointrust me with certain property both real, and personal and the lawsof the country permitting me to will it to whom I think mostdeserving, from her kindness and, well tried affection, in health andin weakness I do now will, devise, and bequeath everything I own onEarth, either real or personal property, in possession,remainder or reversion to my beloved wife Louisa Singleton to herand her heirs forever. Having disposed of everything I own, eitherlands or negroes, moveable or immovable to my beloved wife LouisaSingleton formerly Louisa Belser and her heirs forever I nominate andthe said Louisa, my wife, sole Executrix of this my last will andtestament , revoking and destroying all others heretofore made. Inwitness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, in the year ofour Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty three and the fortyseventy year of the American Independence----
