Will of Charles Skinner

Sumter Dist. Clarendon County

 

In the name of God Amen I Charles Skinner of State District and County aforesaid, being weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows namely. First of all I recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it me and after my decease I wish my body to be buried in a Christian like manner And after my Just debts are paid then what estate it has pleased Almighty God to blefs me with in this

life, I wish it to be disposed of as follows, that is to say first of all I do give and bequeath unto my son Hardy Skinner or his lawful heirs Two dollars---    

2nd  I do give and bequeath unto Daughter Amelia Swetman or her lawful heirs Two dollars---      3rd  I do give and bequeath unto Daughter Sarah Murray or her lawful heirs two dollars---

4th  I do give and bequeath unto my Daughter Celia Compton one negroe girl named Panthea---    5th  I do give and bequeath unto my Grand Son Wm. Skinner son of my Son Wm. Skinner dec.d  one negroe girl nam’d Lizetta as his full portion of my estate, and should he die leaving no lawful ifsue it is further my will that the said girl Lizetta and her ifsue, should she have any to be equally divided between Celia Compton, the Children of Mary Ann Pool, Charles S Skinner, Epsey Ridgill, and Harvey Skinner---       

6th  I do give and bequeath unto my Daughter in Law who was the wife of my Son Wm. Skinner dec.d Two dollars---          

7th  I do give and bequeath unto Daughter Mary Ann Pool & her Children one Negroe girl Nam’d Jane---      

8th  I do give and bequeath unto Daughter Epsey Ridgill and the ifsue of her body one negroe girl nam’d Huldah---     

9th  I do give and bequeath unto my Son Charles Skinner One Negro man nam’d Isaac and all my land lieing south of the old ford on Sammy Swamp and a strait line drawn from said ford through a pond call’d the water Pond to a corner stake or tree

10th I do give and bequeath unto my Son Harvey Skinner one negroe man nam’d Harmon and all my land lieing North of the old ford on Sammy Swamp and a strait line drawn from said Ford through a pond call’d the water pond to a corner Stake or tree---And it is further my will and desire that at my death that all my property that is not mention’d above or portion’d off to be equally divided between Charles S Skinner, Harvey Skinner Mary Ann Pool and Epsey Ridgill

11th I do hereby appoint and Nominate my Son Harvey Skinner & Richard Ridgill my Son in law my Executors to this my lasit will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal This Sixteenth day of June and in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty-one and the Fifty fifth year of the Independence of America     Some words of the fifteenth line from the top Strictin out of the second side---
