In the name of God‑Amen-I Thomas Rose
Sen.r of the State and Dis.t aforesaid, being weak of body, but of sound and
disposing mind and memory (praised be God for the same) do make and establish
this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following
Viz--
First-I will and bequeath to my beloved Wife
Sarah the lands and plantation on which I now reside, all the negroes, horses,
stock of all kinds plantation tools house and Kitchen furniture and all the
property I may possess at my decease the said property to be hers during the
time of her natural life or widowhood--
Secondly-I will and bequeath to my Grandson
Samuel Thomas Rose, the lands and plantation on which I now reside, to be his
at the marriage or death of my wife Sarah‑ If the said grandson, Samuel
Thomas Rose, should decease before he becomes twenty one years of age, the said
lands and plantation shall be equally divided between my son Thomas and
daughter Ann--
Thirdly-It is my will that at the marriage
or death of my wife Sarah all my property shall be equally divided between my
surviving Grandchildren‑‑‑
Lastly‑I do hereby nominate and
appoint my son Thomas my Son-in-law James McIntosh and
my
Wife Sarah as the legal Executors of this my last Will and Testament-hereby
revoking all the other Wills by me at any time heretofore made-In witness
whereof I havee hereunto set my hand and seal in the year of our Lord, One
thousand eight hundred and forty and the 15th day of April- And of the
Independence of the United States of America tho Sixty fourth-
Tho.
