Will of Ann Cantey Richardson
In the name of God, Amen: I, Ann
Cantey Richardson of The Manor in the County of Clarendon, widow, make this my
last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say
I desire all my just debts to be
fully paid and satisfied
Item, my dear son William Henry
Burchill Richardson I give the following slaves, Dick bricklayer, Prince
carpenter, Lining and her children Hercules, Jack, Luke, Dolly and an infant,
Lenn, Ann, Clementine, Jessy painter, Alphua and her children Sampson and
little Josey, old Davy, Sophy, Doll, Ned, Clarentine and children Thisbe and
Nancy, Harrington and old Moses, with their future issue and increase.
Item, to my dear son Richard Charles
Richardson I give the following slaves, that is to say, Elleck blacksmith,
George carpenter, Harriet cook, Frederick bricklayer, Ostler Ned, Narina,
Rollo, Clarinda, Penny and her children Sandy, Adam, Jim Beck and Lye, Old
Fanny, Phoebe, Maria and her children Hetty, Clarenda, Sary, Jupiter,
Christmas, Martha and Nancy, Molsy, Harry, Olivia, Elsy and old Lucy, with
their future issue and increase.
Item, to my dear daughter Anna
Julia, wife of James B. Richardson, the following slaves, that is to say; Eve,
Fanny, Betty, George, old Betty, Tena, Alelia and her children Cidelia and
Silpha, Sharper, Flora and Fiscal Phillis, for and during the term of her
natural life, and from and after her decease, to such child or children as she
may leave and the issue, if any, of such child or children as may be died in
her lifetime, such issue to take by representation the share which the parent
would have taken, and no more but in case my said daughter should die without
leaving any child, grandchild, or other aforesaid should die under the age of
twenty one years, then I give and dispose of the said slaves so bequeathed to
her, as follows, that is to say, to my son William Henry Burchill Richardson,
that Eve, Old Betty, Tina and Flora, and their future issue, and to my son
Richard Charles Richardson, Amelia, Cidelia, Silpha, Fanny and Sharper, with
the future issue and increase of the females, and to my granddaughter Elizabeth
Eveliegh Richardson, daughter of William Henry Burchill Rihcardson, Betty and
her future issue, and George.
Item, to my granddaughter Ann
Sinkler Richardson, daughter of Richard Charles Richardson, I give Bess nurse
with her future issue and increase.
Item, to my daughter Margaret C.
Spann I give a certain bag of money which will be found after my decease in my
cabinets or drawers, marked with her name.
To my daughter Sarah I. C. Elliott I give another bag of money which
will be found in like manner marked with her name. To my daughter Mary Matilda Flud another bag of money which will
be found in like manner marked with her name; and to my daughter Anna Julia
Richardson, another bag of money which will be found in like manner marked with
her name. And I direct the aforesaid
several purses or bags of money to be delivered to the several legatees for
whom they are designated immediately after my decease, without being opened.
All the rest and residue of my
Estate I give to my son Richard Charles Richardson and his heirs and assigns
forever.
Lastly, I nominate, constitute and
appoint my sons, William Henry Burchill Richardson and Richard Charles
Richardson, Executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all
other wills by me at any time made, and declaring this to be and contain my
last Will and Testament. In witness
whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and subscribed my name the Eleventh day of
August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty five.

Will and Testament in the presence of us, who in her presence and at her
