Will of John Isham Moore
In the Name of God Amen; I John Isham Moore, planter, of Sumter District South Carolina, being of Sound and disposing Mind, do Make this My last Will and testament‑
Item
1st I desire that all
my just debts be paid as soon after decease as practicable.
Item
2nd I bequeath to my
son John B. Moore my Man Servant Bynum, to be included and taken as a part of
the portion of my estate that he may take under this my will‑
Item
3rd I bequeath to my
Son James S Moore my man Servant Harrison (a bricklayer) to be included and
taken as a part of the portion of my estate that he may take under this My Will
Item
4th I give, bequeath
and devise to my sons John B. Moore, and James S. Moore, and to their heirs
(subject to the limitations herein mentioned) all my real and personal
property, to be equally divided between them, share and Share alike — But
should either of My Sons die leaving no Child or Children, or their ifsue, then
the part of the one so dying to go to the other or to his Child or Children
should he be dead

5th I do hereby
Authorize and Empower my executor or executors who qualify hereon to appoint
five respectable planters to divide my estate between my two eons, Separating
in no case families of negroes where it can be avoided -

6th I do hereby
constitute and appoint my sons John B. Moore and James S. Moore Executors of
this My last will and testament.
Item
7th I will and
bequeath to my God son John Isham Moore son of
Dr. M. S. Moore the sum of five hundred dollars to be paid to his
father as trustee for him, with in one
year after my decease -
In
testimony whereof I the Said John Isham Moore have hereunto set My hand and
seal this the fourteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and fifty two 1852.
